Because the man has issues with black people and has a long history of racial issues. I mean, that makes him a great alt right AG but not a good AG in general.

So you're OK with a racist as Attorney General of the United States? Or a president-elect of the United States who's first headline in the NYT was being sued by the DOJ in 1973 over housing discrimination?

Just curious.

Show me one link not from a liberal hack website that calls him a racist and has proof for it.

Full context from Wikipedia. Since you're going to say "unreliable witness," I'm going to put this from CNN:

When you combine with the alt-right movement and the whole Trump ethos, you can see how our Attorney General-designate is pretty racist/bigoted.

Also you skipped over Trump being sued for discrimination for housing in NY. Where he and his father explicitly discouraged blacks from settling in their housing.

Maro Lago used to discriminate, and Trump took it over and ended the discrimination.  The ACLU is absolutely Communist inspired and at least partially un-American.  While civil rights are important, the NAACP has some radical elements as well.

That doesn't address the DOJ lawsuit in the 1970s, where Trump was accused of racism.

The thing to keep in context is that a lot of Southern racists tended to view the NAACP as "radical" and have a derogatory opinion of organizations like the ACLU.

Take Sessions as a whole, and you find an unreconstructed white Southerner from Alabama who has a long history of backing Dixiecrat values. You also must acknowledge the nationalist right's racial values have been on display during this year.

Sessions is a bullhorn to the alt-right that Trump prioritizes their support.

The evangelical vote for Trump laid bare the lie that they were committed to a higher truth. In the end, they were committed only to their own self-interest. Sounds like Pharisees, but that's not a new story either.

Donald Trump has appointed a white supremacist and anti-Semite as his chief strategist, and now the biggest racist in the United States Senate as his AG. What's next, David Duke for Secretary of Homeland Security?

There is literally no evidence that Bannon is a "white supremacist".

Like there is no evidence Trump hasn't done racist things… oh wait. I just love how Bannon's fellow white nationalists defend him in the media.  Smiley

Almost every Trump voter I have spoken to personally has started griping about the blacks and the Latinos in this country. It's almost like a universal trait.

It would be nice if you considered the full record. Which includes, say:

Jeff Sessions voted to confirm Eric Holder. Jeff Sessions worked on school desegregation.

By the way, despite all the leftist claptrap, Arlen Specter (R then D) is on record saying he would have confirmed Jeff Sessions in hindsight. But why does Liz Warren's screeching matter, anyway?

Who says I'm listening to her screeching? I listened to the campaign, which was comprised of Donald Trump's foghorn blasting out racist things like that Judge Curiel couldn't judge fairly because he's Mexican ... seems reasonable to me that Donald Trump would appoint an AG who would reflect his own biases.

As for school desegregation, the same guy who threw the folders on the table and said he wished he could reject all civil rights cases?

Please, let's not pretend Jeff Sessions is some paragon of civil rights virtues. And let's not pretend Donald Trump is one either, and that the alt-right doesn't have overtones of racism and semitism. According to Steve Bannon himself.

The Republican Party has been basically hijacked by nationalists who have - at best - a skeptical history on civil rights. There have been polling done on Trump voters who indicate more negative opinions of blacks than other groups for example. Why would the elevation of a dixiecrat to Attorney General be any different?

Specter - why do I care about Arlen Specter's opinion? He was a Republican for most of his career and switched parties to protect his own hide, not because he had a deathbed conversion.

Also Holder's confirmation was never in dispute. He passed 75-21. Don't make this to be some great noble act of Jeff Sessions that indicate how non-racist he is.

Oh well those Trump Voters who gripe about Black People must have personal problems of their own. About Latino's-What was Trump Voters problems with Latino's? If it is that they don't speak English than I have no bones to pick with Trump Voters on that one.

This was the most interesting thing. It was related to the Latino population growth and minority vote becoming larger. Every single time I pointed out Latinos and blacks and Asians are a growing population, they freaked out. Consistently.

"BLACK PEOPLE SHOULD NOT BE ALLOWED TO VOTE." Literal quote from last night. Another one told me a while ago that white people need to spend more time reproducing.

Hilariously, I'm not even white and yet, since they're friends with me, they feel very comfortable spouting racism around me.

Given how much time I spent around them, I conclude Trump supporters have a deep cultural problem because drill deep down, it's never about the issues, it's a sort of a resentment against x or y outside group. Be it Muslims, blacks, or Latinos. And yes, they were white men.

I don't know if it's racism, economic anxiety, concern about their status in a changing world, or all of the above. I don't hold their bigotry against them (except to silently mock them in my head) but I feel strongly that nobody gets to a Trump vote without checking one of the cultural boxes off that relate to feeling antipathy towards an outsider group.

This is brutally harsh, but it is also I think a valid opinion given how Trump waged his campaign. He explicitly campaigned on resentment politics, politics of grievance against outside groups, and talked about outside groups in virtually everything he did. He very much was a "us against them" type of candidate. A grievance politician.
