No, Sen. "Luke" McCain has just fired the proton torpedo into the exhaust port.  Smiley  Will the reactor blow?

I so took this the wrong way.

Good news for Huckabee. Charleston is 41% in. It has McCain @ 48%

McCain only won Charleston 50-47 8 years ago, I assume his margin is much larger now

This over and I do not know why they are not calling it.  The county numbers favor McCain strongly from what I can tell.

Horry and Florence are still out and they think they could be strong Huck counties.

Horry county (coastal county) actually is a huge McCain county...went big for him in 2000 and McCain fought to keep polls open there later

Might it be better for McCain if Thompson stayed in until after Florida?

Huckabee is winning in Horry County! WTF!?
There were only 1,000 votes cast, but still very odd.

Seems like an error.

Except McCain is going to need a southern anchor to the ticket...and Huckabee, geographically, looks and personality wise makes a much better selection for VP for McCain.

Not that I'd really want Huckabee at the bottom of the ticket.

If we're talking VP's, Powell or Rice, especially if Obama isn't on the ticket.

Good choices...but could they help solidify a weakening south? (well upper south, Arkansas, and border states)

Though they could help to drive the point home about what the Clintons have done to Obama.

Powell would be the better general election choice, but with McCain heading the ticket...wouldn't he need someone seen as more conservative?  Does Rice fit that bill?  Or do we need to resurrect JC Watts from obscurity?
