Is Kennedy more liberal then Polis? If so - nothing unusual: conventions are dominated by "activists", and tend to favor the most radical candidates: left in Democratic case, right - in Republican.
I don't see how that's absurd or ignorant, he's right.

The only thing absurd or ignorant in it is the grammar.

Why would a member of the Democratic Party support old white guys for president is beyond me.

God, he's annoying.

Zionism is an inherently nationalist ideology (and mostly an ethnonationalist one). Supporting mass immigration in Europe but not in Israel is hypocritical. Supporting big, beautiful walls in Israel to keep illegals and enemies out but thinking Canada and the U.S. should take in millions of immigrants is also hypocritical. That's basically all he said. I fail to see what's racist about it. It is correct.

Admittedly he said some more things regarding anti-Zionism not being anti-Semitic that I disagreed with, but that was not racist either.
Irregardles, Morty is clearly racist. He's argued for eugenics before on top of all his other comments.

Not a word. Tongue  However, yes, Morty is pretty clearly racist.

I wonder why Mary Taylor is doing so poorly despite John Kasich's endorsement. I mean, he's a very popular governor and would win reelection easily if he wasn't term-limited.

Because Kasich is a Democrat?

Let's see, Kasich is extremely pro-life, has an anti-gay record (despite virtue signaling), has an A rating from the NRA, supports right-to-work laws, favors massive tax cuts, is anti-union, and is very hawkish on foreign policy. He's far to the right of even Joe Manchin yet somehow he's now a Democrat Huh

Context matters. To many GOP voters, he is a Democrat. Learn not to take PNM literally Tongue

Fixed.

Thankfully, being a Democrat or Republican is not subject to people's opinions.

He must have seen internal polls that really spooked him.

Actually I believe since he came to realization that he won’t be able to do entitlement reform he basically lose interest for the job since that’s probably the reason he took it in the first place

he was smart for wanting to destroy the Social Security pyramid scheme. It's sad that the Republicans were too cowardly to do it.

Really going to take the time to post HillGoose's posts in here...?

You see, that's why nobody can take the alt-left seriously. You state a simple fact of life and they pile up on you as if you just said that eating live babies is good for your health.

No one takes the "Alt-Left" seriously because it doesn't exist, dude.

The SPLC is a hate group who "routinely espouse a wide range of utter falsehoods".
No, the SPLC is a scam. At the end of the day it’s merely a scam.

Says the "reformed" white supremacist....

Says the "former" Democrat....
Badger could wipe his ass with your best efforts and still improve upon them.

I guess if you're into the sort of thing.

A great example of what some “Southern Democrats” throughout history who are now mindlessly chalked up as “conservatives” actually were: standard liberals who don’t talk like they’re from NYC.  HP.

Yes, I know most don’t consider Missouri Southern, but people apply that same thinking to “Red State Democrat” today: “Must be a moderate to have won there!!!!”

Yeah, Claire McCaskill is the first person to come to mind when you picture a Southern Democrat in the 60s, LMAO.

I know you're smart enough to know that I didn't say or insinuate anything close to that.  Hope so, anyway.

I mean on a personal level I feel sorry for Todd Akin, yes he is a complete idiot, but he was probably just repeating sh$t he heard in his 1950s science class and he got completely tarred by a national media desperate to make it a national story and put those words in Mitt Romney's mouth. In light of things politicians have said and gotten away with, it is completely unfair that it became such a national story and he became such a pariah

He's actually right though. The media lets Trump get away with worse gaffes than Akin's on a daily basis, lol.

I mean, they don't really "let him get away with it."  My CNN app is full every morning of whatever new stupid thing Trump said or did.  It consumes the news.  It's just odd and kind of unexplainable that it never really seems to catch up with him.

Wha...? Oxford commas add sense to a sentence. Removing the last comma makes the final two items sound like a pair. “Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness”, etc. When speaking, you space out your words differently in a list based on where those words fall in the list?

Not to derail the thread, but that is part of the reason I hate it: most grammar experts acknowledge that it is, at the end of the day, stylistic and comes down to personal preference, and anyone who DOESN'T use it would agree.  You only get people who are ardent Oxford comma users who have the attitude that to not use it is stupid.  While it (arguably) provides some (arguably unneeded, as people who don't use it would argue that the "or" or "and" function perfectly fine as the final separation and the last comma clutters things and is unnecessary)) clarity in certain instances, it can also make things more confusing in others:

"My personal heroes are my father, Brad Pitt, and God."  It looks like you're renaming your father as Brad Pitt for clarification.  Again, I'm not a fan of how it looks and acknowledge that it can both remove and create ambiguity, so I was just kidding about hating it.  However, I don't like how so many who use it think they're "right" to use it.

^ God, I hate Oxford commas for some reason ... it's the battle I'm willing to perish for. Tongue

What would someone be saying if they wrote this?

"I love my kids, God and America."

Oxford commas should exist, imo.

Suffolk County, NY
St. Lucie County, FL
Kanawha County, WV

I bet Trump gets 90% of the vote in WV, or something ridiculous like that.  Over 80% is far from out of the question in WV.
I have WV ties and I beg to differ - he might not break 80%, but in the Trump era WV is the new Utah.

Yeah, but WY is still WY.

Kasich is massively overrated by this forum. The amount of 20/20 hindsight/revisionist history that people evoke when talking about him is ridiculous. He tries to pass off as a moderate when his views on abortion are some of the most conservative I've ever seen, so I don't believe that everyone would "rally around good ol' moderate John" as he wins over 50% of the vote and clears 320+ electoral votes. He may have won in 2016, but he wouldn't have performed better than Trump IMO.

People were making fun of him in 2016 for staying in the primary too long before dropping out. He has been propped up to be far superior of a candidate than he actually was, and if you were paying attention in the GOP primary you'd see that. Cruz got almost double the votes and Rubio won more delegates than he did.

And I don't have anything against Kasich personally. He's far more respectable than most Republicans, in that he's not a religious nut like Cruz or a d-bag like Trump. The people who prop him up to be more than he actually is bothers me.

As for this result, that's basically what I would have expected.

The narrative that Trump was the "only candidate who could break through the blue wall" seems to rely on us ignoring the fact that Pat Toomey, Ron Johnson, and the vast majority of House Republicans did better than he did.

Absurd.  Ignorant.

How is his post either one?

It’s not a red state (at least not yet), but it’s trending Republican.
The only solid analysis here. Wisconsin is the next West Virginia. National Dems insulting the Midwest will ensure it.

Ya beat me to it.

Almost every rural district has swung towards the Democrats from its Clinton 16 numbers.

So areas with few people in them are gonna go from titanium republican to only safe republican? That’s cute.

The suburbs where people live and people can actually elect large numbers of democrats will take the initiative while we wait for those rurals to catch-up in 50 years. Wink

It’s not without precedent for Atlas to treat a suburb that went from 75% R to 60% R as a basic guaranteed lock for 2024’s fabuous Democratic nominee, so let’s not be so hard on the guy.

Also, when will political analysts and consultants stop pretending like “suburban” gives us even one tenth of the description about cultural, socioeconomic and political attitudes that “urban” or “rural” does?
