Many of the would be Democratic states were tossups since it's a GOP realignment year.

So, the Dems are relegated to being the Party of Appalachia (plus a couple other states)?  Quite a change from the "Party of Coastal and Urban Elites" that they are today.

Except they aren't a party of coastal urban elites, LOL.  They never have been, and they never will be.  Without voters who are the furthest thing from "elite" possible, the Democratic Party wouldn't exist, and they know that, even if the realignment-fetishizing nerds of Atlas don't.

Agreed.   But 1) I've never denied that, and 2) it's demonstrably ever-so-slightly less true.
