Like Sonic the Hedgehog, there's a place in my heart, but the time has passed for me to seriously consider them beyond the original iterations that broke ground.

The creators of old are long gone, the parts that were worth it for the memes have been played out.

Now it's all a struggle between nostalgia pandering, attempting a new direction, and an unpleasable fanbase with too much control.

Naturally, I made my exit at a (excuse the meme) high ground [Clone Wars Season 8] and haven't looked back.

I can only conclusively say now that Attack of the Clones, and the "sequels" were bad, The Originals and Revenge of the Sith were good, and everything else is somewhere in between.

The fight scenes in Revenge were better than in any other movie(It has 2 of the 3 best lightsaber duels in the saga). It's plot was far deeper and emotional than ANH by far, and Ian Mcdiarmid does an excellent job as Palpatine

What fight scenes were better?  IMO they all look bad because they're fighting on CGI settings that look straight out of a computer game.

Anakin vs Obi Wan is the best duel in the safe imo , and Yoda vs Palpatine is in the top 4. My top 5 duels of the saga are

1. Anakin vs Obi Wan
2. Luke vs Darth Vader(ESB)
3. Obi Wan and Qui Gon vs Darth Maul
4. Yoda vs Palpatine
5. Luke vs Darth Vader(ROTJ)

Yoda vs. Palpatine is just them swinging lightsabers at each other in one spot for thirty seconds, and then Palpatine starts throwing chairs at Yoda.  Barely anything happens.  There's no emotional energy to it.

Also the Darth Maul fight is dumb.  There are numerous points where the characters obviously leave themselves open for easy kills and it doesn't happen.  Instead they just keep kicking each other.  And the ending of that fight is super dumb.  Why doesn't Darth Maul just slash Obi-wan to pieces when he's jumping over his head like Obi-wan does to Anakin?

Anakin vs. Obi-wan is the only good thing about Episode III.  I'm glad you didn't try to tell me the Grievous fight scene is good though.

Yoda trained to fight without  emotion and both were clearly better at using force attacks than lightsabers so it’s obviously going to end up being primary a force battle

Cause the flaw of darksider users is arrogance which clouds their ability to use the force to their fullest extent which is why Obi Wan was able to get away with that move and surprise Maul with it  . Anakin wasn’t cause Obi Wan never lost focus so he was able to use the force to sense what was about to happen. Also given Obi wan knew that exact move it makes sense he built a counter towards it (notice he says right before anakin jumps don’t try it cause he knew exactly what he was about to do).

The prequel duels may look like dances but they aren’t , the reason it looks like that is Jedi and Sith use precognition to predict how exactly a attack is coming so they know how exactly to block an attack. The prequels were the Jedi at their peak so we were gonna see battles with them using their powers  in their fullest and precognition was one of the main techniques a Jedi had to master .

In the originals it doesn’t look like much of a dance because Luke isn’t hasn’t mastered pre cognition anywhere near the Jedi’s  from the prequels but he was able to get away with it since Vader was only trying to convert Luke to the dark side and not kill him

If I have to expend this much effort rationalizing away a movie's flaws just so I can understand why I'm supposed to enjoy it, then it's not a good movie, lol.

I didn't have to rationalize all the poor decisions and boring s--t in the original trilogy, because those movies didn't suck.

If you rely too far on the outer,Doylist explanation for everything with no appreciation  for the Watsonian, then you are the reason why the sequels sucked so hard.
