I know you got distracted and didn't come back to correct yourself, but doesn't Pirates of the Car sound like a great premise for a movie?

Actually yeah, it kinda does. Huh.

Lots of Tim Burton films mentioned so far.  I approve.

Way too many kids films though...

You say that like a pejorative...

My top 5 anticipated ones are for 2018 atm:

- A Wrinkle in Time
- The Incredibles 2
- Isle of Dogs (I'm a sucker for Wes Anderson)
- Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom [in a popcorn flick sort of way, but hey, as long as it doesn't overplay itself like the first sequel, or half- @$# itself like third, it's fine....and it looks to be more intelligent than the last one, time will tell]
- Wreck-It Ralph 2

Okay, at this point....

A Wrinkle in Time missed hard, might even consider it one of the worst for the year.

Isle of Dogs was a bit of a miss as well, kinda meh rather than really good, definitely not Anderson's best.

Jurassic World 2 failed at even being a good popcorn flick

Wreck-It Ralph 2 is yet to come, though it looks quite promising.

But Incredibles 2 did not disappoint at all, but it's up against a lot of competition from unexpected places....this year was incredible regarding good movies.

From the year of my birth; honorable mentions in (parentheses). Major releases only

1989: Born On The Fourth Of July (Batman)
1990: Misery (Total Recall)
1991: The Silence Of The Lambs (Terminator 2: Judgment Day)
1992: Batman Returns (Bram Stoker's Dracula)
1993: Philadelphia (Alien³, Carlito's Way)
1994: Ed Wood
1995: Se7en (Natural Born Killers)
1996: 12 Monkeys (From Dusk 'Til Dawn)
1997: Boogie Nights (The Game, Jackie Brown)
1998: Dark City (The Truman Show, Fear And Loathing In Las Vegas)
1999: The Green Mile (American Beauty, Man On The Moon, Stir Of Echoes)
2000: Requiem For A Dream (Titan AE, What Lies Beneath)
2001: Amelie (A Beautiful Mind)
2002: May (Insomnia)
2003: Identity (Thirteen)
2004: Hellboy (The Butterfly Effect, The Machinist)
2005: Rent (The Descent)
2006: The Departed (Freedomland)
2007: Pan's Labyrinth (Zodiac, Sunshine, Fracture, Children Of Men)
2008: In Bruges
2009: Moon (Watchmen)
2010: Black Swan (Inception)
2011: Drive (In Time)
2012: Dredd (The Master, Maniac)
2013: The Wolf Of Wall Street (Dallas Buyers' Club)
2014: Nightcrawler (John Wick, Grand Budapest Hotel)
2015: The Revenant (Crimson Peak, The Hateful Eight)
2016: The Neon Demon (Don't Breathe)
2017: Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri (Get Out, The Shape Of Water, mother!)
2018: Vice (Halloween)
2019, to date: Midsommar (Us, Child's Play)

My tastes tend more towards low-key thriller films and horror, so those are probably overrepresented here, but I tend to think they're better movies all around than other genres when they're well done.

Pan's Labyrinth was a 2006 release, but I agree it was the best for that year.

Better than Crazy Rich Asians?

New contender: The Goldfinch...though I anticipate the Mr. Rogers movie will dethrone it.

Hmmm, now very conflicted between Jojo Rabbit, The Goldfinch, Toy Story 4, and Ford v. Ferrari...and that's before the Mr. Roger's movie w/ Tom Hanks is even out.

Also kicked out A Few Good Men in favor of a much better law movie...My Cousin Vinny, and just recently found Hunt for the Wilderpeople...much better than Zooptopia.
