Some People Never Learn: Wisconsin Primary

As April opened, Governor Romney announced that he would be suspending his campaign. Understandable given his losses in Arizona and even Utah. Ultimately he endorsed Fremont.

So into Wisconsin go the candidates.

Republicans

Senator Goldwater vows he will do all he can to ensure that everyone has a chance to succeed, without all those pesky unions. Naturally, he was quick to win the endorsement of Scott Walker. However, Fremont's campaign easily has the monetary advantage and Walker is not necessarily all that popular. While Goldwater is expected to take in all the precincts Huckabee won in 2008, Fremont is expected to take in everywhere else.

Democrats

On the Democratic side, William Jennings Bryan goes in with endorsement of maverick Former Senator William Proxmire and little else. Nonetheless, March 26th is like a distant memory to the fiery-tempered Congressman. Most of his campaigning is in the rural Northwest.

Humphrey and McGovern on the other hand are duking it out in Madison, Green Bay, Milwuakee, and so on. McGovern managed Senator Baldwin, Humphrey managed former Senator Kohl, McGovern managed Feingold, Humphrey managed former Governor Doyle...and so on and so on. Both claimed they were the first to condemn Scott Walker's attacks on unions, though all three candidates have said something of condemnation.

Republican Primary

Barry Goldwater (62.5%)
John Fremont (37.5%)

Ultimately Goldwater won out thanks to practically the whole state party endorsing him over Fremont, be it the unpopular Ron Johnson, or the polarizing Scott Walker. What wasn't expected was the 25 point margin.

Democratic Primary

George McGovern (56.25%)
Hubert Humphrey (25%)
William Jennings Bryan (18.75%)

Looks like the power of Feingold gets one far with the Democrats. This is what many heads are attributing to the huge victory McGovern had, while Bryan and Humphrey floundered.
