Used to love the Discworld books back in High School.
Can't say I know much about him, but RIP.

Apparently it was a chest infection, in conjunction with the Alzheimer's. I'm glad the Alzheimer's, alone, at least didn't get him in the end.
That's quite sad. Having Alzheimer's is a chillingly horrible fate for anybody, but it seems particularly cruel for an author of fiction.
It was early-onset, too. He was diagnosed in 2007, when he was fifty-nine. But through some extraordinary effort of the will he kept writing right until the end. Between his diagnosis and his death he wrote five Discworld novels alone.
Well, that's beyond impressive. Definitely sounds like a fascinating person.
Also was very adept at fencing and even forged his own sword.
