Mack would also be a more reliable vote for the GOP

For the Mack enthusiasts - Connie could always run for governor.

If he does have presidential ambitions, it would make sense for Crist to jettison out of Florida and into DC.  It'll be far easier to defend your legislative record in the coming recession than your record as governor.  What are you going to do, brag about how you cut less social services and yet still had deficits that ballooned slightly less than the other states?

Crist wold not only be a first-term Senator

Does this mean that Crist is not running for president in 2012?

Why would Cornyn applying pressure to Crist affect his presidency?

OP - you quote a ridiculous amount of posts, including long ones.

Fair enough Morden, good points.  I think Crist would prefer '16 to '12 anyway.

Cornyn is only letting Crist be such a cocktease because he knows Crist would win so definitively.  If Crist was someone else, then Cornyn would have demanded an answer one way or the other so that the GOP nominee can begin to fundraise and build support.  Meeks is already holding $300k fundraisers

Interesting.  I wonder if Meeks would drop out if Crist runs.

Everything I've read on TampBay Buzz, my source for Florida tip, says that they don't think Crist runs though.  I suspect that if Crist does run, it's to avoid being an executive during this economy and to be a top-tier '16 presidential candidate or VP.

He'll probably be slightly more conservative than Collins since he has national aspirations.

Meek better drop out if he doesn't want to lose his seat in the House.  Damn, I was hoping we could win Florida.  Will Crist be an Olympia Snowe-like Republican in the Senate or will he do whatever Mitch asks him to?

mmm, I wouldn't despair yet.  I've been attempting to follow this race and everything I've read until that article has indicated he won't run.  Granted that Florida politics involves a lot less leaks than other states, but it has more hints than Colorado which you feel like hitting your head into the wall if you attempt to figure out what's going on.
