The poll above and this thread asks the following question: If Jon Huntsman runs, as an independent candidate, who could/should/would be his running mate?

I think, in an ideal world, Huntsman's running mate would be Nevada Gov. Brian Sandoval.  Some other, perhaps more realistic options, would be Sen. Joe Manchin (whom Huntsman is close friends with), Michael Bloomberg, fmr. Sen. Evan Bayh, or Sen. Angus King.

Evan Bayh-would be good-he might anger some Democrats, but Bayh could appeal to moderates and put Indiana in play.
Tom Ridge-The former PA governor and DHS Secretary could put Pennsylvania in play.
Sheryl Sandberg-The Facebook COO could energize women, but could alienate working class women who don't like her book, Lean In.

Don't you think that the Democrats that would be angered by Evan Bayh are probably those who wouldn't vote for Huntsman anyways?  Sheryl Sandberg would be really interesting and would probably bring the Huntsman campaign a ton of press.

Democratic Party = 307 EV

GOP = 178 EV

Huntsman/Bayh = 53 EV

This would be a sort of best case scenario for Huntsman/Bayh.
