The way North and South Lanarkshire voted reminds me of how North and South Carolina voted for President in 2008 when the North went narrowly for Obama and the South marginally for McCain.

Well, a depressing night, but not without signs of hope. Scotland's day will come.

Scotland's day came today, and the people voted to stay as part of the UK.

And that, folks, is democracy at work.
