It certainly doesn't help her that these reports are coming from the State dept. and not a random right wing news source. This will be hard to spin, but probably won't end up playing a large role in Iowa.

Did anyone consider the possibility that nothing will come of this? Every damn week we hear that an indictment is coming, yet nothing happens. Basically, the same thing gets repeated every week about the emails and there is nothing new. What exactly is new here?

According to Politico, "It was the first time State has formally deemed any of Clinton's emails classified at that level, reserved for information that can cause "exceptionally grave" damage to to national security if disclosures."

Regardless of whether Clinton is guilty of wrongdoing (which I personally believe is not true as nothing has come out yet suggesting anything was classified at the time she had the emails), we need to consider how this will be received by people voting very soon and what effects that may have. The formality of this release seems more official than previous cases.

The Berniebros and Conservahos are pathetic. Since we can call names, why not call a spade a spade?

I know it's hard to hear that your candidate of choice may have done something wrong, but you can't just project that onto other people to make the issue go away.

One thing that seems weird is how emails which were not classified when it was sent to Clinton's email server could then become top secret later on.

It's classified whether marked or not, it should have been properly marked.

The whole point is that Clinton's argument is the emails weren't classified when she received or sent them, and only later achieved classified statuses. It's not a criminal offense to deal with information on a private server when it is not classified, which is why there's an investigation to see if there was in fact information that was classified at the time it was sent or received by her.
