This seems to be turning into a Scalise/Price/McMorris-Rodgers fight. I would guess Price would win given recent events.

You do realize that if Webster gets 20+ votes, it could hand over the Speakership to Pelosi. Is that what you guys in the Tea Party want?

The speaker needs a majority of the votes cast, so Pelosi wouldn't win. There would be additional ballots until someone wins with a majority.

Scalise says he has enough votes locked up to win Majority Leader.

If they go to secret ballot, Pelosi ( or a moderate Dem), should pledge to abandon the Hastert rule if elected.

This currently seems more likely than a GOP'er securing 218 as anything other than a temporary Speaker.

Maybe this will end up transforming the Speakership into a neutral position like in the UK House of Commons.

Several Congressmen have mentioned Tom Cole and Paul Ryan as unity candidates who could get 218+

Maybe we'll have the first Chickasaw Speaker

Ryan has already ruled it out.

Yes but given the circumstance it's not implausible that he might reconsider

He already reiterated that he's not running.

Lmao even after Boehner tries to resign, the tea party still finds a way to keep making his life hell

Can't live with him, can't live without him has never been more accurate.

Also, Webster says he's still running as well.

Anyone had who the Democrats voted for? I know a few did not vote for Pelosi.

184 voted for Pelosi, 1 voted for Jim Cooper, and 1 voted for John Lewis.
