Quote
Resolution condemning Fast-Food Burger Restaurants

The Southern Chamber of Delegates hereby:

- Recognizes that fast-food Burgers are typically made with grease, ingredients designed to add fat, and/or inordinately large amounts of toppings, and typically served with ridiculously unhealthy french fries.
- Recognizes that Restaurants, including but not limited to, McDonalds, Burger King, Five Guys, Wendy's, In-And-Out, and What-a-burger, that serve fast-food burgers serve little purpose other than to make people Obese.
- Hereby Condemns all such fast-food burger restaurants for being the biggest cause of obesity in the region, and urges the populace to never eat at such places.

Sponsor: Wulfric

While the Chamber is not willing to pass formal legislation on this topic, I would hope that we can at least pass this common sense resolution that admits that these restaurants merely serve to make people obese. This would not impose any new restrictions, it merely states that such restaurants are horrible. I urge the Chamber to Adopt it.

So what about Domino's or Pizza Hut or Taco Bell or Panda Express? Why only burgers? Because this will change nothing. People will just go to other fast food providers.

It's about keeping these resolutions narrowly focused. If this resolution is successful, we can consider others next session.

So why not target all businesses in the future then? The auto industry has negative impacts as well. Most businesses are not 100% perfect. What you are proposing is a wide-scale condemnation and crusade against all business. This will hurt business confidence and create rising unemployment. Now is not the time to start a manufactured recession!

I have no desire to go on a nationwide crusade about everything that may be "bad" about business. I simply desire to solve the problem of obesity, which is one of the most dire things the country of Atlasia faces. And one way to do that is to stop allowing the worst foods to be served.

I move to table the legislation. In accordance with the rules, I ask for a second and a third on the motion to table.

Maybe the people of the South actually do support this and want it passed Tongue

Why not move for a final vote?

Right. Since Saint came on and did nothing, let's see what happens.

I withdraw the motion to table and move for a Final Vote.
