In Minnesota Pawlenty's death penalty reinstatement proposal was defeated 8-2 by a Senate committee. That means two Republicans joined the six Democrats in voting no.

From what I understand lots of conservatives in Nebraska viewed the almost never used death penalty statute as just a waste of money.

Which is not only true, but it's also surprisingly sane of them to recognise that.

Well, the NE legislature is supposed to be nonpartisan......
