2020 Protests megathread

Things got a bit nasty in Seattle as well, and we’re under curfew today and tomorrow.

The scene in Seattle seems pretty tame to invite the response they’re getting. The police are dropping stun grenades and using pepper spray quite liberally.

The SPD like to claim that they’re better than police departments in other cities, since they claim to often “review” any use of force and promote de-escalation, but a lot of that is honestly just talk. It’s one thing to be ready for things to turn nasty, but they very clearly got extremely aggressive at the first sign of disruption.

Funny how this “autonomous zone” gets different treatment than others. It is basically a party at this point, despite every right-wing outlet framing it as a violent communist takeover of the entire city (nothing going on in my neck of the woods, so don’t judge the whole city.)
