I’d still bet on Harris, but I’m hoping for Duckworth or Warren.

Maybe they’re trying to stealth-push Rice so leftists will find Harris more amenable.

I was just thinking this.

The Veep is clearly gonna be Kamala Harris at this point....just a few more days y'all.

Yeah, I’m pretty convinced that the Rice hype is meant to make the Harris pick that some of us have seen coming a light-year away less predictable.

Either way, my #hottake about this is that his VP pick will not be “the most consequential event of the 2020 Presidential Election.” It’s something that people will talk about (i.e. the pundits and Atlas will freak out about) for a week or so, but it’s not going to change many minds at all and will hardly have any impact on the race in the long term, if at all.

We’ll still get plenty of galaxy brain takes, like that Wisconsin will become Safe R, since Harris will “scare” WWC voters, or how Biden will do better among black voters than Obama in ‘08 because of her. Some will say that she’s too far left, some will say that she’s not far left enough, some will say that she’s going to supercharge Democratic turnout, some will say that she’ll depress turnout and make Republicans more enthusiastic to vote against Biden, etc.

Either way, see you all in about two weeks, when Harris is the VP pick, and people are done being thrilled/disappointed/satisfied/depressed/shocked/concerned/ecstatic/angry/aroused by it and things get back to being exactly as they are right now.

This is some Mexican novella level drama here.

All we need is for Biden to say “My VP pick... is...” with a dramatic percussion loop for about 40 seconds while all of the contenders look around at each other nervously, then we see the title screen and know we have to wait another week to find out.

What happens if we text “last” to 30330?

If Harris is the pick...

She will make Biden win in a landslide!!!
1. Black voters, who totally don’t support Biden strongly already, will come out in droves, tons of flips in the South!
2. She’s progressive, so Democratic turnout will surge (no one likes “Bernie” anyway lmao.)
3. She’s also moderate, so suburban moderates and Republicans will happily come on board, since Biden is rejecting soshalizm. Florida and Texas are blue now!
4. She’s inspiring and new, and will bring out tons of new voters.
5. She’s taken down Trump on Twitter a lot, so she’s a fighter!

She’ll also DOOM Biden!!!
1. She’ll scare the WWC populists in the Midwest with her “elitism.” Wisconsin goes to Safe R, Michigan and Pennsylvania go to Likely R (Scranton will feel so betrayed.)
2. She’ll prove once and for all that Democrats only care about iDeNtItY pOlItIcS which black voters will see right through, and white voters will flock to Trump (even Washington and Oregon will flip!)
3. She’s way too far left, almost as far left as Honorable Chairman Sanders, so she’ll scare away lots of suburban voters. Bye, Virginia!
4. She’s also too moderate, so every Sanders supporter will stay home or vote for Trump.
5. She’s dull and uninspiring, so Democratic turnout will fall through the floor.

Am I covering all my bases here?

300 pages will be cake. Can this thread get to 350 before Biden makes his “““““imminent””””” announcement?

I do think that Warren’s M4A plan hurt her a bit (progressives need to do a better job of selling the idea of private insurance being eliminated, highlighting the problems with a public option that isn’t as good as private insurance), but I think it’s an oversimplification to say that it single-handedly killed her campaign, since part of her surge was that she peeled off some support from Sanders, and most of those voters went back to Sanders by the time Iowa voted.

Anyway, back to the matter at hand, I’m hoping for lots of memes/images once the pick is announced. Fully expecting Harris (I don’t really have an issue with her, I’ve just never understood all of the hype for her), would be thrilled if by some chance it turned out to be Duckworth or Warren, sick to my stomach if it ended up being Rice.
