Hi guys! I'm RR1997.

Today was a very boring day. I spent most of it roaming around YouTube.

I was mostly watching science-related videos, but I came across a video stating random fun facts. While watching this video, I learned that 75% of European-Americans (white people) don't have a SINGLE minority friend. This surprised me a little and I decided to do a little research about this. I came across this article:

Do you have any minority friends?

Remember that there is a difference between an acquaintance and a friend. I'm talking about HARD-CORE friends.

I want to see if the Atlas Forum is any different (most of my friends are white BTW, and I'm not white).

Discuss.

Not my closest friends, but I have brothers and smoking partners who are of various minority stock--Asian, Mexican, Middle Eastern, African-American. Who cares?

I agree. I really don't care either and I think that people can be friends with whom ever they want to be friends with. I hate it when people bring up discussions about race IRL. It's even more annoying when people use race as an excuse for something. I'm just really bored and I have nothing to do right now. The fact that 75% of white people have no minority friends does frighten me a little (and I have a VERY hard time believing it), but I still don't care all that much.

The percentage of black people who have no close non-black friends is probably even higher.

Nope. According to the study, slightly less than 67% black people have no close non-black friends, while around 75% of white people have no close minority friends.

Also, check this graphic out:

The methodology of the survey is confusing. The survey question asked about seven closest friends, but then somehow extrapolates the data to determining the makeup of larger social networks.  By the seven closest friends standard, the answer for me is not really at the moment.

I think I stated my question wrong. I'm talking about CLOSE friends. Sorry for not adding the c-word to the title.
