Why is everyone saying Republicans? Maryland and DC are solid D. Yes, they would lose two senate seats, but that would be the whole senate, not just Democrats. But Maryland and DC would influence the whole thing making Colmarnia (sure let's go with that) a blue state at the moment, just as NoVa influences Virginia to start tilting left in general now.

The general thinking is VA will become a pretty solid Democratic state in the not too distant future.
