That and there doesn't appear to be a communist dictator he doesn't like.

Xi Jinping?

It's very funny how Leave campaigners used to cheer on Norway and Switzerland as model nations, but now view their status would turn us into a Brussels colony.

God, everyday I see a statement from the DUP and their crew of gurning, idiot Orangemen, a bad part of me wishes we just give their whole damn province to the Republic without a border poll. Obviously that would be a bad idea, and it's unfair on ordinary Ulster people to suffer from the arrogance of their representatives, but still.

I'm starting to think there will actually be a No Deal Brexit Vs Remain referendum (and I'm not looking forward to it).

I don't want Javid to be PM, but I'd I was a conservative I'd probably want him given he is broadly acceptable to all factions and doesn't have any glaring personality flaws (e.g. Hunt is too superficial, Leadsom is dumb, Gove is a weasel, BoJo is a human disaster)

Very funny business with the mace, although he could have theatrically waved it around like Heseltine.

Tbh this rebellion looks like a damp squib (feel free to quote this I'm completely wrong and she goes down in flames). I don't see the rationale to ditch her (if I was a Brexit MP) aside from using the PM as an outlet for pent up aggression. If she goes, then you're merely delaying Brexit even further (perhaps indefinitely). If you really want a harder Brexit, the best thing to do would be vote down all her proposals and force her hand on either "temporarily" suspending Article 50 or trying to manage a no deal Brexit (fwiw I would find this a heinous tactic given it's essentially playing chicken with the economy, but whatever). I don't see how replacing her with Raab or Hunt or Javid or Mordaunt will change anything.

Also this isn't twitter, let's not accuse each of gaslighting.

Beautiful poll from the Gold Standard!

If you're still rooting for Corbyn to take power after the last few months, you're either rooting for an antisemitic terror state or a war to prevent one.

lol. Corbyn will be in power and nothing of substantial difference will happen in regards to Israel-Palestine,  Israel will continue to be a settler state oppressing the rights of Palestinians. The west bank will continue to be a poverty-stricken sh!thole and Gaza will continue to be run by religious fanatics as their hospitals and schools get shot at by the Isreali government. Youll be happy.

Corbyn could flat-out support a one-state solution (which he doesn't btw- he supports a two-state solution 1967 borders- albeit with stupidly supporting the right to return) and nothing would change.

But let's ignore the fact that conservatives support the vilest anti-Semitic and war criminal regime around the world such as Saudi Arabia.

The Corbyn is an anti-semtie is a dead trope that won't work with the British people and is designed to have people ignore the vile policies implemented by the conservative government.

#Corbyn for PM

Your coldblooded endorsement of the Western world's most antisemitic would-be leader in generations is noted. He won't be allowed to get control of Trident one way or another. Never again means never again.

Are you suggesting that you think Corbyn is going to nuke Israel?

The DUP will vote to prop up the limpet Prime Minister, because of course.

So aside from wasting nearly a third of the remaining available time, delaying the vote by a month achieved... what exactly?

The plan may be to try again with even less time left and try to get it through via fear alone.

Tea Party tactics there, except emnating from the government.

We can't really rule anything out, and that's part of the problem. No one has a clue what's going, including and especially the people making the decisions.

A serious question that has to be asked is how quickly can we 'recover' from a No Deal situation i.e. revert to pre-existing customs procedures?

As quickly as you can hold a second referendum.

(Unless the No Deal is bad enough that a cross-party consensus emerges for rejoining CU/SM - i.e. Norway - but I'm not sure we should wish for that to happen.)

There is not going to be a second referendum in the near future. Neither the Tories nor Labor under Corbyn have interest to do so. The Tories are too divided and the Brexit hardliners would break up the govt. Maybe Labor would support one, if a Blair-style leader was still around.

If a Blair Type was still the leader , Labour would lead by 15-20 points in the polls

The trouble is the EU issue is always going to be an albatross around the neck of any such person. Heck, we're in an odd position when Corbyn actually represents the moderate ground on Brexit while the "Right" is hopelessly divided between FBPE types and neo-Gaitskellites, both of which would clearly alienate a substantial chunk of Labour's cadre and/or base.

Meh. I wish the crown would suspend parliament and pick a competent PM to drive through this mess

I'm pretty sure Queen Elizabeth doesn't want to spend the last years of her reign embroiled in a constitutional crisis that puts her dynasty's survival at stake.

The EU is considering an offer to delay the Brexit till 2021, in order to avoid having to extent the deadline every three months or so.

https://www.theguardian.com/politics/2019/feb/24/brexit-could-be-delayed-until-2021-eu-sources-reveal

May cannot take that offer: she will tear her party in two and lose her job.
