Salmond is directly calling for it.

Worth noting that Kezia Dugdale once claimed she would support independence if Britain wasn't in the EU. Wonder whether that will come up, lmao.

I've seen the same thing. Big No's and 'SNP Out' people even at the GE in May at least emotionally saying they want out. Might settle down though.

I imagine there will be a lot more 'official' support this time. As IAC says, it's not difficult to imagine Labour and the Lib Dems flipping to neutral or anti-union. Sane with the trade unions, business groups, universities and the major newspapers.

I'm going to say this is unlikely, but when I remember the disaster that was Better Together I can pretty much imagine Scotland falling out, even when the contradictions of left-wing parties deciding to form a new petrostate in the current climate become more obvious.

Has anybody polled Scotland on "Do you want Scotland to be independent in your lifetime?"

That might separate the "no" voters between soft nationalists and true unionists, and clairify a few things for me.

Trouble is the SNP would find it in their interest to play by the book. Not that they should care too much about Westminster, but they want to prove to their international partners (who above all dislike fuss and uncertainty) that they are reasonable and calm (or at least, more reasonable and calm than the rUK). A UDI might make EU accession talks more difficult, for example, because the key players would start to think that Scotland is hasty (if there is one thing the EU hates, it's doing anything without mulling it over for about seventy years).

I think it's increasingly likely that Scotland will not necessarily join the EU if they leave, but join EFTA instead.
