Obligatory reminder that Alaska politics does not work like mainland politics and comfortable narratives about 'the right' and 'left' irt the GOP don't work very well.

Why is Lisa Murkowski being primaried, aside from the perception that she's a moderate/liberal/RINO. Seems to me that after she won that write-in campaign in 2010, they would back off of her. #LeaveLisaAlone

Alaska Republicans are factional.  Murkowski represents the old elite (she was literally handed the seat by nepotism), people like Sullivan represent new blood. This is a broad tent thing - opponents can be quasi-libertarians like Joe Miller, standard conservatives like both Sullivans or cross-idealogical populists like Palin 1.0 or Walker.
