I enjoyed playing football, but at some point, you have to question the progress made by an amateur sport that inflicts hundreds of avoidable injuries on the participants. It's the only sport in the US where playing properly guarantees injury. In every other sport, injuries are usually a fluke.
Furthermore, when I played, healthcare was still affordable. I blanch at the thought of covering football-related medical bills for today's youth. However, I would also hate to lose a major part of American culture.
