The Refugee Act of 1980 gives the President of the United States the sole authority on this matter. These actions by Republican governors across the country are nothing more than the legal equivalent of throwing a temper tantrum. It is very deeply concerning the amount of hate and fear the GOP is allowing and encouraging to fester against Muslims, including those who are American citizens. By their logic, you could deduce that all Christians are blowing up abortion clinics and federal buildings.

Just like the targeting of a schoolboy with a clock in Texas, the spike of anti-Muslim hate crimes since 9/11, the outrage over a community center in New York, and the inflammatory comments of Terry Jones, this is another example of what happens when hate goes mainstream in America, and those of us with any sense should be speaking out and standing up against it.
