I genuinely cannot understand how Republicans can support someone this divisive.  Maybe one or two statements like this are acceptable, but at this point, it's a trend.  It can't just be everyone hates Trump.  It's a lot simpler to just say maybe he's an idiot.

I can. He is the logical endpoint of what they've been trying to be since Nixon got elected.

I mean intellectually I can, but in practice I don't see how you can make yourself overlook all his obvious flaws.

I don't understand how supporters can look at tweets that are so narcissistic and simplistic and still support this guy. You want a protectionist that's against illegal immigration? Fine. I don't agree with everything they'd support, but at least get one that speaks coherently and doesn't ramble on.

I'm no fan of most current Republican leaders, but I have never doubted that Mike Pence, Mitch McConnell, Kevin McCarthy, etc. are at least intelligent people even if their beliefs do not align with my own.

Arguably, this makes it worse.  If he truly believed he was being cheated, fighting makes sense but if he doesn't believe it surely he recognizes the harm this does to our institutions but he does it anyway.
