Blacks vote strongly D in the South. However conservative they may be on some social issues, they are usually liberal on economics.

Weren't the Dixiecrats pretty moderate on economics?

Definitely much more liberal than current Southern Republicans.  People like George Wallace were actually quite liberal economically.

Yeah, which is why "far-right" and "ultra-Conservative" shouldn't be used to describe him.
