Per SD law there would be a special election within 80-90 days anyway.

My best guess is Daschle to hold the seat and Herseth runs in the election.  But this is all highly speculative now anyway.

I think the Republicans win this seat either way

Rounds is the only Republican in the state who could beat Herseth and it's doubtful that he'd run.
