It's so sad that a bunch of christian nutjobs control what was once a great political party.

The exact same can be said for the left-wing nutjobs in our own party. 

Agreed. Why can't the Democratic Leadership Council be more vocal than Howard Dean?

Public perception of him says he is, and that's what counts. I do agree that if you objectively look at Governor Dean's record in office, he's far from what the GOP demonizes him to be.

But even Al Sharpton accused him of not having one minority represented in his cabinet

Oh god I remember that.  Al's such a prick.  Dean was too scared to give him the right answer, which was "Where the hell are you going to find black people in Vermont?"
