Because there's a tendency for Obama to be referred to as the "Appeaser-in-Chief" by those on the right in America, he's the President and the image was the best/first example for "appeasement" in Google Images.

There was a discussion about this when it was first drafted.

To be frank, I have not known of the existence of a word "republica" in Latin before seeing this sigil. Can you link me this discussion please, just because of interest.
