Chris Cuomo: Welcome back to CNN, I’m Chris Cuomo.  I'm here at the Vatican City. Earlier this morning, we saw the Cardinals celebrate the Eucharist, with Dean of the College of Cardinals, Angelo Sodano, preaching and celebrating. We just saw them process into the Sistine Chapel while chanting the Litany of the Saints. And now, they are beginning to chant Veni, Creator Spiritus. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IKtXhfxEgpg And with that done, here we have our Presiding Cardinal, Nicolas de Jesus Cardinal Lopez Rodriguez, of the Dominican Republic, to lead the Cardinal-Electors in the oaths.

PLEASE POST THE FOLLOWING AS YOUR CARDINAL:

Et ego [forename] Cardinalis [surname] spondeo, voveo ac iuro. Sic me Deus adiuvet et haec Sancta Dei Evangelia, quae manu mea tango.

Cuomo: And with that, all 115 Cardinal-Electors have sworn in, and so here we have Papal Master of Ceremonies, Mgr. Guido Marini, with the traditional closing of the Chapel:

Marini: EXTRA OMNES!

Cuomo: And now, we wait.

Back inside the Sistine Chapel:

Lopez Rodriguez: May the Holy Spirit be with us today and for all the days to come.  I ask, each of you, to pray earnestly for the guidance of the Spirit in making casting your votes.  I know that no man can fully put aside his prejudices, his doubts or his past in making his decisions in life, but I would hope that each of you makes an honest effort to listen to the direction of the Father and our Lord Jesus, through the Spirit.  Should one of you be chosen, I ask you to remember the words and teachings of John Paul II.  “Be not afraid and go forward knowing that God is with you.”  God Bless us all. Before voting, the Secretary of the College, Cardinal Baldisseri, is requested to give an update on the demographics of the college and needed amounts for voting.

Cardinal Baldisseri: My brothers, the total membership of the College of Cardinals is currently at 220 members. Of those, 9 are Cardinal-Bishops, 170 are Cardinal-Priests, and 41 are Cardinal-Deacons. There are 115 voting members of the College. 77 votes are needed for a ⅔ majority vote.

The first order of business before the Cardinals will be the first ballot of the Conclave, per Canon Law, we must have one ballot completed before the end of this day, which is within 5 hours.  The voting may proceed.

(A friendly reminder: you may vote for any RL Cardinal or any IG Cardinal)
