I wish it were three hours, with so many candidates it won't really be a debate with only 2 hours plus commercials. It'd be better if everyone could get 2 min answers and at least a minute to reply.

I feel like the first debate will be completely overshadowed by the second debate that everyone will just forget it. Warren could have a good debate that only gets talked Wednesday morning before Bernie v. Biden and whatever Pete or Harris does is what everyone talks about.

Honestly I don't even get the complaints of the GOP kiddie table debates, I thought they were fine and fair. It allowed some lower tier candidates like Fiorina to prove themselves and rise to the next level. I think it'd be better if the DNC just did a kiddie debate but have it first then a few days later hold a debate with frontrunners.

What do you guys make of Yang’s place in the 2nd night? This strikes me as really good for him.

Not really sure what he has to add to the debate other than UBI, he seems like a single issue candidate. I could see him being someone who ends up speaking for 2 or 3 mins the entire debate.

Wait, WTF?? Why is Warren in the same debate stage with these nobodies, are these guys brain damaged or something?

I can't believe I'm (kind of) agreeing with you but... I do think it is BS Warren is the odd woman out considering the results of this "random" assignment are essentially the same as a kiddie table division would have been anyway. (They really should have just gone ahead and done it!)

That said, I think if she plays her cards right she can actually work this to her benefit for reasons I explained above.

Interesting that there happens to be three women in each debate. Makes me think it isn't so random.

I'm going to be cynical but Tulsi and Gillibrand probably benefit in someway by just being the most telegenic people in their groups.

Pete is gonna look awfully short next to Biden it may dampen the whole young/old contrast. Think he might show up in these?

I think it'd be fair to say if your an officeholder then the qualification are more lenient. Bullock is a bonafide Dem who helped elect & raise $$ for other Dem Govs in his capacity at the DGA. Unlike Yang & Williamson who have done nothing for the party. Moulton pays dues to the DCCC and helped raise millions for Dem vets running in '18. So I think considerations should be made based on commitment to the party.

I know this isn't a huge deal, but Biden seems to have shrunk a bit over the years. I'm 5'11" and I am taller than Biden when I've met him by a hair. And I am only a couple inches taller than Pete who is maybe 5'8.5". And he will also be beside Yang who is around that 5'8" mark, too. So Pete won't look short, not like the half a foot height difference between Rubio and the other R's in 2016.

It's normal though. As humans get older, our bone density decreases and makes us become slightly shorter overtime. It'll happen to all of us. Trump too, who prides himself on his height.

However, taller candidates do usually perform better in elections...usually (though I am reminded that DeWine beat Cordray last year).

Women have it a bit easier they can just wear heels to compensate. Harris at 5'2 could wear 4 or 5' inch heels if she could tolerate it and appear an acceptable 5'7.

I feel like Gabbard is gonna get a bump from this debate. I mean who is going to waste time attacking her? And I could see her pulling in some low info viewers who like her anti-war message.

Debate has been pretty much overshadowed by SCOTUS decisions and coupled with the fact Warren didn't get to say much, she got the raw deal in her placement tonight.

NBC muting Yang's mic spin is BS, you could hear him coughing several times during the debate. He was just too timid to raise his voice and fight for time and he's a single issue candidate who didn't have anything to add on most topics anyways.
