It's crazy some hedge fund manager from NYC is holding down one of the most WWC districts in the country. Tells you how hard it is to read these voters.

Golden is basically a carbon copy of Conor Lamb.

The only way to get rid of these people is them losing badly. St Clair would lose and go away forever, Jared will get another chance in '20 with a much clearer field.

If Lucas St. Clair is the nominee, then the Maine Democratic Party should officially dissolve in the second district. There is absolutely no point to it existing as an organization if it runs such terrible candidates against one of the weakest members of the entire House of Representatives.

And people wonder why I changed to a maroon avi.

In hindsight it’s too bad Michaud ran for Governor

I'm still amazed he lost he seemed like the perfect candidate for Dems working class background, represented and won an area LePage was strongest in. Makes me wonder if he would've even survived in '14 if he ran for re-election.

I mean he would’ve won except Cutler.

Nah Lepage was pretty close 50%, give him a just third of Cutler's support and he's there. I think the ebola panic cost Michaud more than anything.

Maine Democrats have a habit of nominating the blandest most centrist candidates who run lifeless campaigns and then just blame third parties as a cover for why they can't get their crap together.

Yea and they went the other route with Emily Cain who lost twice. A bold progressive is just not going to fly in ME-02.

Apparently, it will work like this: on election night the towns will report the first choices the way they always report election results. After that those results will be certified and in about a week all ballots will be brought to Augusta (State Capital) and a final count of the ranked preferences will be done.

So we’ll have to wait a week to determine the winner of any election where nobody clears 50% on election night?

Yea there has to be a better way than this. I hope ME votes down RCV today, just having a simple 50+1% rule and a runoff election is more ideal.

I think he's better than Lamb, who was very clean cut officer like who looked like a politician. Golden is more like a grunt, working class guy.

Golden just needs to make it through 2020, I think ME-2 can be shored up in redistricting more in a way to make it at least favorable to Dems.
