Ah, okay, that makes sense. I've always wondered. But like Santander said, that doesn't make it any less disturbing. This is stuff people do when they're 13 or 14, but not 33 (or even >20, for that matter).

The problem is not that it's embarrassing, it's the fact that he is an adult who manufactures any opportunity he can to bully a teenager online. It turns my stomach.
