Christie blasts Carolla at Town Hall: 'I support the 2nd Amendment', blasts Carolla as a 'hypocrite'', who supports a position to the left of Hillary Clinton'

'Look, I would say that Mr Carolla should take that lying, hypocritical ad down, but I know that Adam doesn't need any help in getting his stuff taken off TV (crowd laughs).

It's a complete baloney ad. Look I've been clear in this whole campaign; my number 1 priority is to keep Americans safe. When I was a U.S prosecutor I had case after case on my desk where violent gangs, where cartels and were criminals had illegally used firearms to murder citizens, and law enforcement officers. We've seen it on our Southern Border after the Fast, and Furious case. It's sickening.

That's what my approach is based around. I'm a supporter of the second amendment. We allow conceal carried in New Jersey, I commuted the sentence Brian Aitken, who had convicted for bringing legally bought guns in the state and I've said to the legislature that I will veto attempts to create a gun registry in the state.

You know what makes people sick of politics is when you get these hypocritical attack ads. Now Mr Carolla will claim he's not a politician but god, he's starting to sound like someone who's been in Washington D.C his whole life (laughs).

Let's look at what he said last year in an interview, and I quote... ''I'm against semi-automatic and automatic weapons. I'm not an NRA guy by any stretch of the imagination.'' And he has the balls to question my commitment to the 2nd amendment? He's taken a position that is to the left of Hillary Clinton, and Joe Biden. He's a hypocrite, it's simple as that.

December 30th

Governor Branstad carries out a series of Television Interviews.

Q. So Governor Branstad, you've endorsed Chris Christie for President. Why did you wait this long to endorse a candidate?

A.) Well we've had a rather fast moving situation here in Iowa, we've had both Governor Jindal and Governor Romney drop out, both who campaigned heavily in the state and we've seen some folks who frankly I didn't expect to run, like Governor Fletcher. But I've always said I'm not here to act as Kingmaker- I just wanted to see who understood Iowa.

It's the joy of being the first state in the nation to vote; we don't base it on what the pundits say, we don't base it on who has the best TV Ads, or who has the richest campaign. We wanna listen to our leaders talk to us in our homes, in our diners and on our farms. We wanna make sure they understand issues like farming, we wanna makes sure they're authentic and that we can trust them.

And I'll say to the folks listening in Governor Christie as he toured our state I know that Iowans can trust him. Before he came to Iowa I knew he was a talented guy; you don't become a Prosecutor, and put terrorists behind bars without skill. But I wanted to make sure that Chris understood ordinary folks in Iowa, and frankly he's blown us away.

Q. What qualities is it, that stand out?

A.) Well look he the toughness, and resolve that frankly we haven't seen since Ronald Reagan. It doesn't matter who's he's up again, he'll stand up for his views. I know that some folks may disagree with him on certain issues, but look, folks don't want someone who they'll agree with 100% of the time. They want someone they know will wake up in the morning, and ask 'what good can I do today? How can I help people?''

I think looking at the current field Governor Christie is the only candidate who has won a statewide race in the last 5 years; he's won in a deep blue state when our nation is pretty divided. He's shown he can stand up against the millions of dollars of attack ads from the big unions, and he's shown that he can govern. We need someone with this sort of experience.

What about the other candidates? Did you consider endorsing anyone else?

Look, I'm not here to attack other candidates. We've a range of folks running; some who've never held public office, some who've spent a long time in the House and some who haven't been involved in national politics for a while. It's good to have variation, but the difference is that Governor Christie is the only candidate who can unite our party, bring Iowans together, defeat Hillary Clinton, and then carry out some of the real changes we need to get our economy booming. It's simple as that.

Christie holds joint town hall with Governor Terry Branstad. Tells voters 'it's time for America to fight back''.

[quote]'The most moving moment I've has as I traveled around Iowa was when I meet with a small family farmer who had to lay off a lot of his workers, and close the visitor centre to his farm, because of the ridiculously high tax bill that he got from employing 56 people. You know what he said 'I just want someone who cares''. He had to go to his neighbors and to his friends, and tell them that he couldn't afford to pay them, because of a decision made in Washington D.C to slap more and more taxes on employees when the economy is already faltering. It's sickening. It's easy when you're sat in D.C to forget that every decision matters, every decision has an impact and every decision you make will change lives.

I told that farmer called John, that the first thing I'll do if I'm elected President is sort out the tax code, get rid of the job-killing Obamacare mandates and make the entire tax system much simple, and much more fair. But I said him to that I'll remember his story, and I'll remember what I've learnt here in Iowa. I've learnt that there are times when Government needs to get the hell out the way, and there's times when folks need support; like with the Renewable Fuel Standard which supports rural jobs, and promotes energy independence.

Because at the end of day, as Governor Branstad has said many times, the people of Iowa just want someone who get's on with the job. Heck that's what all Americans want; no-one apart from Nancy Pelosi enjoys listening to the constant bickering in Washington, the constant excuses, the constant hot air. What the American people want is someone who'll fight for them; because they're sick of looking around, and seeing collegues laid off, businesses closing down and an America that is retreating from the world. So you know what, it's time for America to fight back.

The only way that's going to happen is if you come and out and caucus for me.''

Ad 1, Get to Work: Airing in Iowa.

(Narrators Voice) Every Morning in Iowa, we get up and go to work.

We don't wait for someone to tell us to go to work, or tell us how to work our land.

We just get on with the job

Don't you wish we had politicians who did that?

Well, now we do...

Chris Christie was the first U.S Attorney appointed after 9/11.

He got up every day to keep Americans safe from radical Islamic terror.

He prosecuted the Fort Dix terrorists, who tried to kill American Soldiers in New Jersey.

He put corrupt, and crooked politicians like Sharpe James behind bars.

And as Governor of New Jersey, he's balanced two budgets without raising taxes, he's fixed a broken pension system, and worked across party lines to raise educational standards

Now he's running for President. Wouldn't it be great to have someone in the White House who knows how to do an honest days work?

Cuts to Chris Christie talking at a town hall... 'I'm running for President because I believe that we need a new type of politics in this country. We need to stop the bickering, stop the arguing and stop the silly point scoring, and come together to fix our problems. I'll get both Democrats and Republicans to sit down, and pay down our nations debt, get rid of our deficit and fully fund our military. We don't need someone who's spend years in Washington D.C, or someone who's great at giving lectures- we need someone who can go to Washington D.C and fight. We need someone who knows how to get results.

Ad 2: Farm Friendly. Airing in Iowa.

(Governor Terry Branstad talking) Here in Iowa, farms are the beating heart of our state.

That's why I'm supporting Chris Christie for President. As Governor of Iowa I know that we need someone who's farm friendly, and we can count on Chris Christie to fight for Iowan Farmers.

Chris Christie supports the Renewable Fuel Subsidy, which gives vital support to Iowan farmers, promotes rural jobs and provides cheap, secure energy for millions of Americans.

He also wants to cut taxes for working families so that we can our economy booming again, and will get the EPA off our backs to allow businesses, and farms to grow.

On the 3rd January I'll be caucusing for Chris Christie because he's only candidate who's fighting for Iowa's farms.

He also knows how to grill a pretty mean steak.

Ad 3: Family Matters.
Airing in Iowa, New Hampshire, South Carolina, Florida and Nevada.

Camera pans to Mary-Pat and Chris Christie talking at dinning room table.

When we got married in 1986, we knew we wanted kids, and we knew we wanted a big family. It just always seemed right.

It's been an absolute joy for us, even if it is sometimes a bit chaotic (both laugh). You haven't seen chaos since you've seen the Christie school run. It's kept us both grounded though; no matter what happens at work you can always come home, and unwind. Even if the kids don't want to talk to us sometimes (Mary-Pat chuckles)

(Chris starts talking) It's why it hurts us both when we see so many families out there suffering, because we both know how precious the family is. It's the foundation of America.

That's why we need to do everything possible to support American families. I want to cut taxes for all American families so that they can focus on providing for their kids, not on providing for Washington D.C's out of control spending. I'll help families get high-quality health insurance by expanding tax credits, not by forcing them to take costly health plans. And finally I'll get the government out of the way so that we can get our economy booming again.

No matter what happens in this campaign I know my family will be here to support me. And no matter what happens in the future, know that I will always support American families.

I'm Chris Christie, and I endorse this message for every family out there.

Debate Answers.

The biggest foreign threat is Osama Bin Laden. The number one priority of my administration's foreign policy will be to kill Osama Bin Laden, and to dismantle the Al-Qaeda network.

I know that the images of 9/11, the carnage, the destruction, the fear, it will be etched into the minds of the American public forever. Even in the 1990's, after the USS Cole Bombing, and the Nairobi Embassy, it was clear that Osama Bin Laden was the number one foreign threat to the United States.

We've taken some steps to push back against Al-Qaeda already, like getting the Taliban out of power in Afghanistan and capturing hundreds of insurgents, and commanders. But we need to do a lot more. We've been lucky that we haven't had a major terrorist attack since 9/11; that's down to the dedication of the National Security service men, and women who keep our country safe.

But we need to be on our guard; we know that Al-Qaeda's methods can change very quickly. We thought we'd pushed them back in 2002, and then they begun flooding weapons and men into Iraq in 2006. We know they're trying to move to radicalize people in America, and we know that they're trying to send people into the US to commit mass terrorist attacks, like with the underwear bomber in 2006.

There's several things I'd do as President to counter this threat; I'd ask congress for a 10 year extension of key provisions of the PATRIOT ACT, I'd reform the TSA, and introduce funding for full body scanners, and I'd work with our international partners to secure the Weapons of Mass Destruction, in unstable countries like Syria and Libya.

But I'd also point out Lumine, that there isn't just one threat to America. We need to keep a laser-like focus on Al-Qaeda, whilst being aware there's a multitude of other threats out there. Iran, a nation that chants death to America, and wants to destroy Israel, are on the quest to getting a nuclear bomb. China are looking to expand across the South-China sea, and we could see dozens of regimes collapse across the Middle East.

Frankly, we live in testing times. I'm the only candidate on this stage who has real experience in counter-terrorism; I've put terrorists behind bars. I know how to keep America safe, and that's what I'll do as President.

Quote
You must be logged in to read this quote.

The thing that has moved me the most on the campaign trail has been talking to folks who've had to close down businesses, lay off workers and live paycheck to paycheck because of the awful state of our economy. Just here in New Hampshire I met with a gulf-war veteran named Michael, who'd opened an outdoor activity center 10 years ago, he'd been hit hard by the recession, but he told me it was the crushing mandates of Obamacare that forced him to begin laying off his workers. Our businesses are crushed between two ends; a weak, faltering economy and the tax increases in Obamacare.

So I can reassure voters that I'll fix our tax code to help get the economy booming again. I'll cut the tax code down to three, simple codes, I'll reduce the corporate tax rate to 25% to attract the best and brightest businesses and most importantly I'll repeal Obamacare, and get rid of the job-killing, economy choking individual, and employee mandates.

It's not just about taxes though; we also need to tackle our out of control spending. Just take the example of Medicare and Medicaid; we know that at the rate that medicare expenses are climbing, we're going to need to act before, frankly it bankrupts us. That's why I want to give states more flexibility, because frankly Governors, and State Legislatures understand the different needs of their citizens a hundred times more so than folks in congress.

Fixing the economy will require some tough choices. It requires someone who isn't afraid to tell voters the truth. I did this in New Jersey; rather than doing what Hillary Clinton does, and pander to the special interest groups, I stood up, in a state dominated by the public sector unions and told them; you're gonna have to pay more into the pension contribution system, because frankly you've been ripping off the tax-payers for too long. I capped property taxes, and told school boards, and towns, that they had to get their spending under control, rather than constantly trying to squeeze taxpayers for more money.

Since I've become Governor of New Jersey unemployment has gone down, and we've worked to create 60,000 private sector jobs. That's progress, but I know we've got a long way to go. That's what I'll be saying to the American public; we've got a long way to go, but if we have a honest conversation, if we take the tough decisions, and if we remember the negative impact of trying to horde all economic decision making in the bureaucracy of D.C, then I know that we can begin to get back on the road for economic recovery.

Honestly, I think to fight crime most effectively we need to keep things that work; such as the three strikes system, the use of the Death Penalty, and a focus the violent cartels, and drug gangs. But part of fighting crime more effectively is changing some of our methods. One law enforcement issue where we need to change is how we approach non-violent drug offenders; especially with young people.

In New Jersey we’ve used drug court for first time, non-violent offenders. It’s been a success, and I think it’s an approach that can be tried nationally. It’s been a learning curve for me, at first, I was sceptical of supporting it, but believe me, after seeing reports about 16-year-old girls on the floor of the county lockup, suffering from drug addictions I knew we had to change.

But this isn’t to say we need to stop enforcing our drug laws; if anything by taking the focus of non-violent first-time users, we can focus on the cartels of death who are smuggling guns, drugs and people into this country, and who are killing our law enforcement officers. It’s a disgrace that the Obama administration is still dithering over the Fast and Furious scandal, where hundreds of weapons were sent to Mexican drug cartels. So, I think one thing we can certainly do to fight crime for effectively is to get rid of Eric Holder.

On the issue of crime though, we can’t remain static, we’ve got to understand that the threats are changing. That’s why I’d want to focus on cyber-crime, especially by making sure that businesses and individuals have the tools to protect themselves from criminals. Whether it’s terrorism, fraud, or child abuse, a lot of crime these days is taking place through the internet. It’s why we need to understand the need to change our approaches.

So that’s really my overall approach on crime; keep building on areas where we’ve made progress, on areas such as the three strikes system, but acknowledge that we need to make changes on issues like cyber-crime, and non-violent drug offences.

Millions of Americans, and millions of businesses are feeling the squeeze from high gas prices, and frankly it’s time for some action. The first thing that needs to happen is that Washington D.C needs to get the hell out the way; this means getting rid of the excessive regulations that limit offshore drilling, and which are killing the coal industry.

I’d also make sure to support domestic energy sources that can lower gas prices. I support the Renewable fuel subsidy that helps farmers, I’d approve the keystone pipeline and I’d make sure that we have long-term investment into research, and development of new energy sources.

I really think the issue of gas prices, and energy security shows the differences between the republican party, and the Democrats. I support market lead solutions, which gets government out of the way, whilst Hillary Clinton and the Democrats will do everything possible to pander to their base.

Rebuttal
Choosing Chris Christie will give 4 more years of a Democrat in office and polling shows that I am the best candidate to take on Hillary Clinton and Joe Biden in November! Thank you all and good night!!

I'm sorry but this is complete fiction. What planet are you on? The idea that I'm some sort of secret Democrat is completely stupid. But let's look at the facts,

I support repealing, and replacing Obamacare with a market lead approach. The Democrats don't. I support cutting corporation tax to 25%, and making the tax rates for individuals much lower and fairer. The Democrats don't. I support increasing the funding to our military, and taking action to stop Iran getting nuclear weapons. The Democrats.

This myth that you're trying to push is stupid. And frankly it's an insult to all the republicans who voted for me in the Iowa Caucus, and the dozens of great republicans who've endorsed me for President. When you run for President it matters what you say, and let's look what you've said Mr Carolla.

You said you wanted to 'ban semi-automatic rifles'. That's a position to the left of the Democrats. You've attacked people who believe in god as 'lacking in courage' and you've said you 'want to give the morning after pill to every kid in school'. These positions are about 100 miles to the left of Nancy Pelosi. So I'm not ready to take any lectures yet.

Chris Christie.
Fighting For You.

January 4th: The day after his win in the Iowa caucuses, Chris Christie flew to New Hampshire to hold a series of round-table discussions with independents, business owners and precinct captains who had supported Governor Mitt Romney. Christie said he was 'still so overwhelmed by the support from the great folks of Iowa' and said that the message he took was 'that Americans just want someone who can get on with the job.'' Christie ended the day with a meet, and greet in a Bar and Grill before holding a fundraiser with Senator Kelly Ayotte.

January 5th:
Governor Christie was honored to accept the endorsement of 2008 nominee, and Republican Senator John McCain. Senator McCain said 'it's time for republicans to get off the sidelines, and get behind Chris' citing his 'vast law enforcement experience' and his 'ability to bring people together', Senator McCain joined Christie in a series of Veteran Town Halls, and a Tele-Town Hall before flying to South Carolina with Governor Christie.

January 6th: Giving a keynote speech on National Security in South Carolina Governor Christie made clear that he was the only candidate 'who has any real experience in protecting the United States', and said it was vital that the 'republicans nominate someone who knows how to keep the country safe'. Later in the evening Governor Christie appeared at a campaign rally with Nikki Haley in Greenvile, who said that 'Chris Christie is the only candidate who can fight for everyone in South Carolina. We need someone who can bring our party together, we need someone who can bring America together, we need Governor Christie.''.

January 7th:
Governor Christie returned to New Hampshire to meet with business leaders, and others who'd been negatively impacted by the tax hikes from Obamacare. At lunchtime he gave a speech outlining his dedication to the state's motto of 'live Free or Die', and argued that 'whether it was in stopping terrorists trying to kill soldiers in Fort Dix, politicians trying to grow fat from public kickbacks, or the Unions trying to fleece taxpayers, I've stood up for the values of freedom.'' Later in the afternoon, Christie held a Town Hall in Concord with Senate Majority Leader Jeb Bradley, and again touted his tax plan saying that 'folks in New Hampshire, whether they're republicans, independents or Democrats, don't want the Government constantly milking them, everytime it wants to fund a new program.''

January 8th: Governor Christie held a campaign rally in Manchester New Hampshire with Senator Kelly Ayotte, John McCain and Jeb Bradley. Telling the crowd 'that every vote will make a difference' and that 'we need to send a message about what sort of party we are. Are we a party that believes in keeping America safe? Are we a party that wants to keep taxes low? Are we a party that stands up against the old, corrupted special interests? If the answer is yes, you've got to get out and vote for me on the 10th!.''

January 9th:
In the early morning Governor Christie meet with fisherman in Manchester, before heading to Dover to outline his plans for promoting free trade with the 'powerhouse, entrepreneurial' countries like South Korea, and slammed the Obama administration for 'once again dithering on the world stage'. Later Christie headed to a tourist visitor centre to hold a round-table on tourism, and touted his tourism friendly plan to help young people get into work by eliminating payroll tax for those under 22. In the Afternoon Governor Christie held another town hall with Senator McCain, in which Senator McCain admitted 'even I didn't have this much fun in New Hampshire' after watching Governor Christie spar with various audience members. In the evening Christie spend time in Manchester meeting with campaign workers, and preparing for the final day of GOTV.

This was the very device that allowed the FBI to stop the Fort Dix Terror Attack.

Representative Walter Jones voted to pull US Troops out of Afghanistan. The very country were Osama Bin Laden went into hiding, and where radical Islamic terrorists continue to hide.

Americans need a President who can keep them safe.

Chris Christie is the only candidate running who has direct experience in counter-terrorism. He was the first US Attorney appointed after 9/11, he has put radical Islamic terrorists behind bars, and he's the only candidate with a plan to keep America safe.

Vote for someone who can keep America Safe. Vote for Chris Christie.

Campaign Advert 2: Stop (Airing in New Hampshire, South Carolina, Florida, Nevada, Missouri, Maine, Colorado and Michigan.

Are you fed up with Obamacare?

Are you fed up with the job-killing taxes?

The rising price of premiums?

The constant lies from our politicians? (plays clip of Obama)

I bet you think it couldn't get any worse.... but it can!

Now Joe Biden wants to impose a single payer healthcare system on us!

Don't let the Democrats continue to pump up the price of you're healthcare, and don't let them continue their big government take over.

Only Chris Christie can defeat the Democrats next November, repeal Obamacare, and replace it with a market friendly plan that will lower costs, increase coverage and put control back in your hands.

Together we can stop this madness, and stop Obamacare.

Live Free or Die (Air in New Hampshire)

Live Free or Die. It's a simple motto to live your life by.

It's echoed throughout New Hampshire ever since the first courageous settlers arrived.

Wouldn't it be great if we had a President who understood these values...

Chris Christie will fight for your freedoms

He'll cut income tax, get rid of the Estate tax and get rid of Obamacare's taxes to get the Government off you're back.

He'll gut the harmful regulations that are killing our economy.

And the stupid rules that are stopping America from being truly energy independent.

He's been endorsed by the New Hampshire Union Leader, and described as 'committed to the values of liberty and freedom which we in the Granite State hold so dear.'

He's supported by Senator John McCain, a war-hero who spend years in enemy captivity without giving up information.

And he'll appoint Judges who'll protect the 2nd Amendment, and keep the Government off our backs.

Governor Christie understands the value of Liberty. And he understands New Hampshire.

Vote for Chris Christie on the 10th January.

Advert 4: Citizens. (Airs in New Hampshire, South Carolina, Florida, Nevada, Missouri, Colorado, Maine and Michigan)

(Footage of Mary Pat Christie talking at a town hall)

When Americans have faced their darkest hour in the past, they haven't looked to the same old politicians from Washington to fix it. They've looked to heroic individuals to lead us; a General lead our nation out of the ashes, a lanky lawyer brought our nation together when it was more divided than ever, the man who defeated the Nazis helped protect America from the dangers of communism, and a charismatic actor from California inspired a generation with his hopeful vision of conservative reform.

My husband stepped forward after so many of you came to us, and told him to run. He's not running because of some long hold ambition, or some burning desire for fame and fortune. He's running because he knows that he's the best for the job. I've seen him get up every morning in New Jersey to fight for ordinary Americans. Let him do from the White House. Join our fight to save America's future.

If you agree with Mary Pat, please join our fight. I'm Chris Christie and I endorse this message.

Well, I've been called a lot of things in this campaign, but I think being called the 'most abrasive' Governor in America, is something that I'm gonna wear as a badge of honor.

Look, I know that Americans are absolutely fed up of weak politicians who are too cowardly to tell the American public the truth. We tried having a laid back President, who gives everyone easy answers, with Barack Obama, and it's been a disaster. But if folks are for some reason worried about my style, and how I'll work with Congress, I'll point them to great results we've had in New Jersey.

I've managed to get real conservative reforms in New Jersey by standing up, and telling it like it is. I've not minced my words, and I haven't been afraid to tell people, both republicans and Democrats, when they're wrong. When the Democrats in control of the legislature tried to put a budget on my desk with tax hikes in it, you know what I did... I walked away. And then they came back a couple of weeks later, and we passed a balanced budget deal that didn't have a single tax rise.

But it hasn't just worked there; I've managed to take on one of the most powerful unions in the country, and got them to finally pay their fair share into their pension schemes, I've got rid of special perks for failing teachers, I've capped property tax at 2%, and I've worked with business leaders to create 60,000 private sector jobs. All of this has been possible because I've stood up, and said 'these are my values, this is my policy, let's get something done.'

Frankly I know that's what the American people want. They don't want politicians who offer them easy answers, or who give long winded speeches; they want someone who can get on with the job. I'm sure some of you may have noticed, but I'm a big guy (laughs). I'm not going to let Nancy Pelosi or Harry Reid push me around. I'll say to them, and to Speaker Boehner, look, we need to sort out this ridiculous out of control spending, and frankly I'm willing to lock them in a room until we get a proper agreement to get rid of our budget deficit, and to begin paying off our national debt.

At the end of the day I know that Americans want a President who can get results, and I've done that in New Jersey. I know that my style may seem a bit well, New Jersey-esque to some folks, but at this time in our nations history, more than ever, we need someone who isn't afraid of telling some harsh truths, and someone who can actually get results. Believe me, I'm the guy to do that.

Well, unlike Governor Romney, I've actually won in both Iowa, and New Hampshire. But I'm not going to start laying into Mitt, because frankly your question is ridiculous.  The media are obsessed with constantly dividing up the republican party. It's a load of baloney.

I know that republican voters, whether they're in Iowa, South Carolina or Nevada want the same thing; they want someone who can defeat Hillary Clinton, and someone who has the strength and leadership to carry out real conservative change, like repealing Obamacare, or helping to create quality jobs to get folks back to work.

I also want to address this myth that folks in the media, and some on this stage keep putting forward that I'm not conservative, because it's beyond stupid. I'm a principled conservative, and I've fought for real conservative reforms in one of the most democratic states in the nation. I've defunded planned parenthood, I refused to renominate an out of control liberal justice and I've taken on the most powerful unions in the country. If I can do this all in New Jersey, with a Democrat controlled legislature, just think what I can do if we have a republican House and Senate.

But look, of course I think we can win, and I tell you what- I reckon I'm the only candidate on this stage who is going to win in every corner of America, because republican voters don't care what part of the country you come from, they care about the results that you can get. So if you want someone with a proven track record, who can defeat Hillary Clinton and who can then achieve real conservative reforms, I'm the guy for you.

Look I support online gambling in New Jersey, but it should be left to the states to decide. I know that the Governors, the state Attorney Generals and the legislatures are the best people to decide what action should be taken on online gambling, rather than just letting the federal government make a blanket decision.

In New Jersey we allowed New Jersey, and it's been a success. It's created over 3,000 jobs, and generated over $600 million dollars; that's what success looks like, and I don't see why the federal government should be able to stop that.

Well the first way to help end the war in Afghanistan is to kill Osama Bin Laden. It's simple, and as President it would be my number 1 priority. We went into Afghanistan because the Taliban were giving safe haven to Bin Laden, and other members of Al-Qaeda. So to fix the problem in Afghanistan we've got to take out the Radical Islamic terrorists who are still hiding in the country.

We've also got to keep support for the democratically elected Government in Afghanistan. This means providing training, and support for their security services, and ensure that our allies in NATO and the UN continue to provide as much support as possible to Afghanistan. I know that some folks are beginning to tire of our mission in Afghanistan, but the presence of US Troops is keeping Afghanistan more stable than it would be without the, and frankly as President I'm always going to put the safety of the American people first, even if it's unpopular.

Some people running for President, like Rep. Jones take a different view. He voted to defund our military operations in Afghanistan, because he thinks we can just cut our losses and run away. That's wrong, and I'll tell you why. It would mean that the current Government in Afghanistan could collapse, and then we'd have the Taliban back in power. It's much easier to hunt down and kill these terrorists seeking to harm Americans if we have a strong, friendly ally in Kabul, rather than a government dominated by the Taliban.
