'For too long people across this country haven't got a fair deal. They watched the wages in the city soar, as pay packets got squeezed. They watched a political class take us into an unnecessary war in Iraq, and they watched MPs waste taxpayers money on feathering their own nest.

When Britain voted for a new voting system it's clear that they were voting for a new politics. They know what happens when the two old parties are left in charge- they crash the car. They know that Labour simply cannot be trusted to make the hard, necessary decisions, and they know that the Tories are so out of touch with modern Britain. When you're going to the vote in this election remember that when they're left alone they ruin this country.

Only the Liberal Democrats can provide a new, fairer politics that works for everyone. Our message is simple- if you want a fair deal in life, vote for the Liberal Democrats

A Fair Economy
The Liberal Democrats will ensure that Britain's Economy finally works for everyone. We'll be fair, and make sure that Britain balances the books by 2022, and we''ll pay down Britain's debt by carrying out a pound for pound audit on all spending.
+We will introduce new taxes on the unfair bonuses of bankers, and break up failing state owned banks like RBS.
+We will cut wasteful spending by local councils, Military officials and NHS executives, all of which have swelled to unsustainable heights.
+ We pledge not to borrow any additional money for day to day spending.


Fairer Taxes.
Britain's tax system has simply not been fair, and both the old parties have refused to take the tough, necessary choices. 
+We will make sure that anyone who earns less than 12,000 will not have to pay any income tax.
+ We will scrap the old banding method of council taxes, and introduce a fair tax based on the value of the land.
+ We will remove the tax-exemption on private education


A Fairer Society
Britain has a great liberal traditions of tolerance, openness and compassion. We want to work together to unleash this fairer society.
+We will legislate to ensure that same-sex couples can gain marriage equality, and to ensure that straight couples can gain civil partnerships, whilst protecting religious rights.
+We will introduce a ban on smoking in cars, and introduce plain packaging on all cigarettes.
+We will introduce a new Communities, and Equality Act, to ensure that sex, race, age, location, wealth or history does not stop any citizen from reaching his full potenial.


A Fairer Education
Britain's education system needs to face the tough, and ever changing economy, that requires new skills, and a new approach to Britain.
+We'll introduce a lock on tuition fees, maintenance loans, and grants for all students in the UK.
+We'll use a tax on private education to pay for free school meals for all primary school children in the UK.
+ A place at university, an apprenticeship or jobs training for every young person.


A Fair Environment
The two old parties have ignored the environment, and as a result have left us a planet in great decline. The Liberal Democrats would introduce a fair deal to protect our planet.
+ We will ban hydraulic fracking in the UK.
+ We will work with international partners to secure a new, global climate deal to radically lower CO2 emissions.
+ We will scrap the Hinkley Point C rector, which will rip off tax-payers and instead fund wind turbines, solar panels and other renewable sources of energy

A fairer Politics
Britain's old political system is ripe for change. The Liberal Democrats fought for a new voting system, and only the Liberal Democrats can fight for a fresh, fairer politics.
+We pledge to reform the House of Lords, to cut it's number of members by 30%,
 and end the rich subsidies it receives.
+ We will introduce Metro Mayors, and expanded devolution powers for all regions in the UK, including Scotland, and Wales.
+ We will seek to introduce a cap on private donations to political parties.
