Now that we've had nearly 24 hours for delegates to sign in, I'd like to put forward the new, revised by-Laws that Truman has been working on. When I came in as Chair the by-laws needed much work, both to change the old language, and to also make Labor into an effective, and successful party. Members have 24 hours to object to this rather lengthy amendment to the Party by-Laws

The Party-By Laws are adopted without any objection. They're a much needed revision, and will be a much needed help in managing Labor.

Onto the next order of business of electing a chair. Candidates have 48 hours to submit nominations for Chair and Vice Chair.

Blair for Chair

You won't get rid of me that easily

Friends. I’m asking something simple of you in this election for chair. I’m asking you to pick who can deliever for Labor. We need a fighter in our corner for this election cycle, and believe me I’ve spent the last year fighting for Labor.

My Job as chair is simple, and has two parts. One hand is building a secure, fun and active game; I’ve done this through my time in Atlasia. Whether serving as President, where I submitted legislation to change the role of GM, or when I signed the Potomac agreement with Yankee to secure a co-presidency to ensure that the game could grow over the last 4 months.

The other part of the job, is the one I've done for you- Labor members. This job is to deliever for Labor. When I started as chair we faced a bleak landscape- a conservative electorate, a party faced with a generational divide and one that was frankly scattered in the regions. After the con-con we didn’t have a single Governor, we only had two senators and we lacked a majority in the House.

But friends look what we’ve achieved…Two brilliant Labor Governors, a progressive majority in the Senate, with 3 brilliant Labor Senators, Labor members in every regional assembly, with majorities in the North, South and Pacific. And most of all- we’re the largest party in the game, and even more importantly the largest party in modern history!

When I became Chair I went in blind. I had no idea just how tough this job would be. I’s not just about making a policy platform or offering a slogan (something I seem to do in every race). It’s about hard graft- sending hundreds of PM’s to find people to run for office, trying to balance candidates for the regions, running GOTV operations or even simply picking a good gif for the convention thread.

I’ve poured my heart into this Party over the last year; and I’m so proud of what we’ve achieved together. As I put on the opening page, if you want to know my approach to Labor, it’s simple… ‘by the strength of our common endeavour we can achieve more together than we could ever alone. This is not the time to change horse mid race, friends, this is the time for Labor to march together through the bold and bright light of progress.

My Record as Chair

Progressive Results- The abolishment of the Death Penalty, the passage of the landmark LGBTQ civil rights Act, an increase in the Federal Minimum Wage, the banning of cosmetic testing for animals, the pausing of the Standing Rock Pipeline, the signing of the Paris Climate Change Agreement and the blocking of the attempt last summer to completely remove the right of a women to have an abortion. All of these efforts were achieved by all of us- a strong united Labor team, that I was happy to lead.

Election Success- We’ve kept a majority in the House for every election since August, we tied the Presidential Race in October, we’ve won every Senate Seat we’ve fought in the Pacific and expanded our ranks in the North, Fremont and Southern Assembly. This doesn’t just happens. It frankly needs a chair with the knowledge of the game, the voter rolls and the players.

Reforming Labor- I want Labor to be a welcoming, fun and active Party. I did this my changing the by-laws with Truman to make the party much easier for players to understand.  I want to bring more players into the leadership; which is why I created the office of Congressional Caucus Leader. I want to go further and create two new Vice-Chairs; one for campaigning and one to focus on reforming the party.

The Largest Party in Atlasia- This is what I’m most proud of. In the last couple of months alone we’ve had some great players join Labor- OneJ, Simmosad, Zombie Spenstar, JGibson (who caucuses with us) and Lok1999. I know that these players will be on the frontline of Labor in the future, and I’m proud that together Labor continues to grow and grow.

Experience- I know this game. I’ve been a player know for two years, and have served in every position (aside from the Supreme Court) Some people might see this as me being an old warhorse but it means I know how the game works. I know the best way to get a bill to pass quickly in both chambers, I know how to stall controversial legislation, I know how to win in difficult regions and I know how to get Labor to deliver.

'Friends it's an honour to be re-elected as Chair after a year serving the Party. However it's clear that the party must not get complacent, and must not think that we've achieved all we can. There is a lot more work for us to do, but we must do this work together. For this reason I want to expand the leadership of the party to bring both Mike Wells and LLR into leadership roles into the newly created LNC. I will be discussing with them both specifically about what roles they will take, but lets be clear- Labor needs to continue to reform.

For this reason there's several steps that I want to take. Firstly I will opening a special conference to begin work on the party policy policy platform- seeing as we didn't do one in October as I was running for President (and didn't have time!) As we control the House, the Senate and the majority of regions it's right for Labor to prepare for a comprehensive plan for government.

I will also begin work on the Labor charter- a document that will act in addition to the by-laws to codify the parties values, and beliefs.''

Labor Convention Update

  • Never-Again/Southern Gothic elected as the Presidential Ticket
  • Blair and Truman re-elected as Chair and Deputy Chair
  • Tasks Left- Nomination of next convention location and creation of party policy platform

It will be in Fremont, for newer members (and some older members who still don't know the states Wink ) here are the states we can have. Nominations must be seconded, and will follow the same voting structure as the Primary (mainly because I'm in love with the French System atm)

It appears my beloved Salt Lake City has been eliminated- as no one city got over 50% lets move onto the next round of voting, with the three tied cities all in the run off

I was planning on opening up a separate thread to begin work on the party platform, after the final business was done for the convention.

Also after the results Denver, Colorado had the largest amount of votes... meaning that Denver will be the home to the next Labor convention in the Summer!
