Was walking to work this morning and heard two builders talking about the chances of Newt Gingrich being Trump's VP pick...

In a somewhat optimistic sign I've gone on several dates (if people call going for dinner, and sitting in a park) with a guy I meet campaigning in the Labour leadership.

I feel like I've reached peak political nerd in the fact that the last three people I've been with I've meet through some variation of politics.

Just saw my first ever US ad- am even using the awful hotel wifi to tell everyone about it.

Saw it when I was sitting in a bar in Boston having dinner- Was an Ad attacking Maggie Hassan over the drug problem in New Hampshire.

ugh I want a puppy- would make life more exciting.

Went to my first political fundraiser last night; spend the whole night talking about Caros' Passage of Power with the person next to me. Kinda sums up the problems the party is in at the moment

Just started watching a CNN program on Netflix called 'Race to the White House'. One of the better programs about various elections I've seen for a while- first episode is on 1988.

As someone who went to my best friends wedding it's really terrifying

These past two days were the first time in at least a year that a forum feud has genuinely gotten at me emotionally. That probably came across in my posts. I'm better now, if anyone cares.

Another thing that happened to me yesterday is that a guy approached me while I was walking on campus, tried to strike conversation in a very rapid and forced way, and then ended up calling over a girl which I'm not clear if he knew before or was another stranger he randomly picked up. Anyway, he said he wanted to hang out and asked us to exchange phone numbers. I was seriously creeped out by the whole thing, but because I'm always too trusting and didn't have the emotional resources to say no to anyone around that time, I went along taking hers and giving her mine. They both left almost immediately.

So, the question is, assuming this is a scam of some kind, what's the worst thing that could happen to me? They only have my phone number, right, so the worst that could happen is that I get spammed with calls, right? They can't steal any information or screw me over in any way, right?

IMO he was probably a dealer; when someone comes up to you and asks for your phone number they're either doing it to mug you or so that you can get in contact you. I really wouldn't get too worked up about it (although it's always easy to say that when it doesn't affect you!)

Got followed, and got a PM from John Weaver (former McCain/Huntsman/Kasich strategist) The strangest thing is I feel this counts as some sort of celebrity meetings!

Going to pick up my new glasses that I ordered on wednesday- have never had to wear them but Specsavers told me I need it for large amounts of reading- seeing that I have 3 essays and about 25 books to get through in the next week that's probably a good idea

I find for me in the last month it's gone in cycles- I've had some days where I've just gone to my lectures/seminars not talked to anyone, and just gone home and watched crappy tv all day in bed.

The only thing I find is actually making an effort to do stuff- I went out with my friends last week after feeling crap for the whole week and had a pretty fun night out in town (which I hadn't had in ages) I think most people go through having days (and weeks) where they feel crap, and in my case I have no experience why.

In other news- my twitter friendship with John Weaver continues. He's asked me to send me my bio, and is giving me career advice- it's weird to say the least

A Republican strategist is giving you career advice? Tongue

God knows why Tongue When it comes to work I've been sleazy enough to work for a tory MP in the past

Honestly had the most stressful couple of days I've had for a while- my 93 Gran has been staying with us, and I've been having to look after her- two hours after she left one of my best friends from school got kicked out his flat and is now having to stay with us until his parents get back from Holiday, combined with my ex coming back to London having broken up with his girlfriend... life really seems to all come at once

As minuscule as it sounds I really don't think there's a worse feeling that knowing that a long term friendship is beginning to drift apart; I know it's just part of moving away from the teenage years but this is a guy who I I've pretty much loved for the last 7 years of my life. I know it's an unhealthy relationship, but still feels sh**t

After just getting back from a nice day with my uncle and his new partner I find out I'm working for 18 hours this weekend because someone called in sick. Absolutely ruined my weekend

Am I the only one who finds that there's a smaller and smaller group of people I actually seem to be able to be around with without wanting to pull my hair out?
