Folks with means tend to live on the west end (or at least to the north) due to the prevailing winds actually. There are exceptions like Albuquerque  (the mountains are to the east), But then the Brits drive on the wrong side of the road too, come to think of it.

That's not always true. The richest suburbs of Cleveland, for example, are on the east side of the city. The richest suburbs of Melbourne, IIRC, are east of the city. It's not a completely certain scenario that the rich areas are in the West or North.

XI will be named, Rijksveld, which I think means something like Kingdom's Field  or Empire Field.

Metro station closest to the city: Arminstad
Farther Metro Station: Hermansdorp

I'd support Afleitch's idea of Riddersveld for a suburb town name, though.

I think we should organize ourselves into parties or political groups. Dutch parties? Parties similar to Dutch parties? Entirely different? Independents? Just left/right groupings?

I don't think we'll need any groups.

Parties arre most of the fun though. Playing all as independents is just worthless. I want to set up a nice middle-class European liberal party and I'll be damned if anyone stops me. Wink

But then it wouldn't be the same running a city.

How so? Most city governments have parties, it would make it more realistic.

Also what is the name for our fair city?

Yes it is, as far as I can tell. One of the few left.

When did we decide on that?

The name is too damn long, too too damn long. It might be an okay length for native Dutch speakers but for an Anglophone like myself it's just rediculous.

How about you just take out the jato? Kolinshaven, nice, simpler, short, sounds less artificial.

Business and Enterprise; Welfare and Housing for me.

I would like to announce a run for mayor. My platform will focus on infrastructure expansion, tax breaks for entrepreneurship and business creation, balancing the budget, and sound fiscal discipline, along with creating a healthy business enviroment to keep the economy growing. Your basic economic liberal platform.

We are now opening nominations for Mayor. Anyone can nominate a council member. All nominations must be seconded by one person other than the nominee (two, if a self-nomination). This stage shall last 72 hours.

Uhh...Xahar. At least two people, myself and someone else, have already stated that they are running for the post about 5 pages ago. Also who died and made you king? Your mommy might tell you you're special but I'd rather have afleitch have the honours of starting this up if he wants, he did create it after all. Wink
