Simfan is spot on.  We need more true Republicans and fewer Southern Democrats like Mike Huckabee.

RIP... A tragic sign of how far the Republican party has fallen.

While I sort of agree with you, I generally resent these comments coming from Democrats, as if they would have been Republicans back in the day but now just can't because they're too principled and noble.

Anyway, that's taking away from the point here.  Jeffords was a great man who actually did what too many Congressmen now a days don't seem to remember is their job: he represented his constituents.

I probably would have been a Democrat then too... I just prefer the I idea of two competitive parties...
