Absolutely stunning.

This is also one special election the GOP should win.

Probably bound to happen sooner or later, but there's a bigger worry.  Democrats had better hope and pray that no scandals from the McAuliffe administration come to light between now and November 2015, or else we will see Republicans with a bigger majority in the state Senate, and (likely) in complete control of the redistricting process by the 2020 census.

I am not even sure how to respond to that particular point.

I feel like Virginia Democrats have to put faith in the least ideal person.

So basically, he gave control of the State Senate to the GOP so that his daughter could get an appointment. That's gay.

Not just his daughter. He seems to be getting something out of it as well.

Democrats literally have no bench in this district.

Well, McAuliffe announced today he is going to unilaterally expand Medicaid, but expect a court battle.

For all the talk of cross-over voting in primaries this year, I certainly think some Republicans voted in the Democrat primary last year -- to make sure Northam got the nomination.

Northam was on the verge of becoming a Republican back in 2006 (?), and he was the more moderate option compared to Aneesh Chopra. He would also have to resign from his Senate seat, which would give the GOP a chance at taking control of the State Senate if they won the special election for the seat. They came up just 10 votes short, of course.

That is, until Puckett resigned.

I think the special election for Puckett's seat is in a week? I'm not entirely sure, but the stakes are high.

I wouldn't say either party's infrastructure in Virginia is stellar, but the Democrats don't seem to shoot themselves in the foot as much.
