He has such insight to say such things. If people voted without hate and fear, we've never elect a Republican.

It might be a tangible hit against Obama. He's lucky he said this as late in the cycle as he did. It is just so wonderful when Dems one wants to lose make rhetorical errors - well, for some us. In event, the idea is to wound Obama, without killing him as a host.

Not much of a 'wound'.  Hicks wouldn't vote for him anyway, and anyone who would vote for him dislikes hicks.

You think the only people in the Democratic party are the wealthy far left liberals, working class whites and blacks? There are small town Democrats that Obama needs to win. He can't rely simply on urban areas and nothing else.

But back to the statement. He's saying it's a crutch to be pro-gun, religious, and anti-trade? I don't understand anti-trade because he is anti-trade, but wanting to ensure we have our 2nd amendment rights and right to free exercise is not a crutch.

Obama is a bigger elitist than Kerry ever was during this campaign. I am really getting tired of this crap. I am tempted just to support Obama so he can get in the White House and screw up and watch all the blame go to former President Bush. We let the Democrats take control of Congress and they have been abysmal.

I'm just tired of Obama's "if you don't agree with me then you're a backwards hick" attitude.

First of all, Obama already said he misspoke.  This will happen, today I was at an event with a bunch of supporters, and if someone was there with a recorder I probably said something too that wasn't articulate and dare I say patronizing which they could record and take out of context..  He took on a tone he shoudln't have, big deal.

If you really think this is an insight to how he thinks, then you must also think that McCain's "bomb bomb Iran" shows that McCain loves war and thinks it will be fun.

From what I saw on TV, he said he was sorry he offended people with what he said. He didn't withdraw what he said or say he didn't mean it. He did the opposite, he stood by his statements. This isn't the first time he has said remarks like this. I do believe he thinks this and possesses this elitist attitude where he thinks he's above most everyone else. Why should I not? He's done more than enough to confirm it. Of course, facts and logic don't work with Obama voters. They live on hope and change.

I'm just tired of Obama's "if you don't agree with me then you're a backwards hick" attitude.

As personified by our friends sig above, not that I share any love for any of the people above, but Obama's people seem to think they have the authority to deem who is worthy now.  Frankly, not kissing Obama's ring seems to be grounds for excommunication from the perfect society he wants to build.

Our same friend wanted to recall Corzine in NJ because he refused to switch his support to Obama. This type of thing is scary for people to say in a free society.

He probably is, but he went to church to create the image that 1) he was black and went to a black church and 2) prove he wasn't an atheist. Atheists have a hard time getting elected to office, but we know his parents were atheists. You normally learn your faith from your parents. It's not unfair or out of the question to ponder whether he is an atheist or not. He certainly looks down on those religious, gun loving hicks.

Exactly. Those industrial jobs are not coming back! No President, I don't care if they are Republican or Democrat, could've stopped the outsourcing of manufacturing jobs. If they had, we'd have much higher prices and less economic growth today.

This is a big scandal. I am surprised (well not really) at how lightly people are taking it on this forum.

We also have Rev. Wright going on a tirade against Foxnews and Sean Hannity and Bill O'Reilly during a eulogy of all things! And people believed Obama that he had never heard Wright say such things before? The more I hear from him, the more I am in disbelief.
