You need to get some good music and you won't be able to help not wanting to run or dance, pal. That's where your real problem lies!

Who do you think you are? BRTD?

I am not advocating you listen to that filth/shouting he calls music. Don't worry. Wink

He may be, but don't go to CAD school thinking you'll get a job doing that in Africa to do in your spare time.

As a Christian myself, some of the things said in here are offensive. God does not endorse someone that uses their parents for all they have, refuses to work, mistreats their bodies, lies, scams, and someone that embraces death because they are too lazy to work to better the gift God gave them - life. It's OK if you want to ignore any posts that question your commitment to God, that's fine, but I can still post this. And you are refusing to better your life. This Kenya thing is a fantasy. If it was real, you'd already be there like the people I have met who had that calling and threw everything away to follow it. I know yours is not real because you're waiting until the creature comforts exist in Kenya before you go. It is simply another vacation for you - like Utah.

I am not the world's best Christian, no, but we all sin, and part of being a Christian is forgiveness, which I am sure you know, but this is just silly. God has not endorsed your lifestyle. You're simply, again, hiding behind God in trying to justify your actions. You can quote the Bible and I can quote it too disproving your quotes.

I have never said I am perfect and by golly I sin every single day.  However, the Bible tells me that God doesn't use people who have it all together.  He uses people who are in a mess.  Think through the Bible.  Noah was a drunkard, Abraham and Isaac cheated on their wives, Jacob lied, Moses was a murderer, the Judges included an assassin, an adulterer, Samson cheated on his wife.  Samuel was a poor example of a father.  David was an adulterous murderer.  Solomon had 1,000 wives.  Elijah was a coward.  Peter walked around with his foot in his mouth.  Paul was a mass murderer of Christians.  There are many more examples.  Do you think any of them had it all together?

I think it's a little dangerous to compare yourself to any of those men. By that logic, anyone who is evil is simply going to be used by God later, and that is far from the case.

In any event, my point remains about your calling. Don't wait. Go and stay there now and don't wait for apartments, your CAD degree, etc. All you need is God once you're there. He will lead the way. Besides, like others said, Kenya needs your money more than they need your labor.

Bushie's stubbornness is rearing its ugly head once again in this plot line. The thing is, we can argue this both ways and none of us will really know who is right. I just feel him using God as a full on shield and comparing himself to Moses/Abraham/David to justify his failures in life and his lack of urgency to improve his standing is simply laughable, incredibly arrogant and borderline sacrilegious.

It's still beyond me that Bushie is comparing himself to the people in the Bible to explain his deficiencies. If I was living the life he was and walked up to my priest and told him my failures were okay because Abraham/Moses were failures, he would think I was actually crazy. Tongue

I suppose he falls into the type of Christian that does not value education or bettering oneself, as it is taking your eye off God. He continues to ignore the verses I mentioned earlier and only picks the ones that justifies his behavior and his fantasy of moving to Africa to work in the architecture field. Of course, I know by now nothing I say will mean anything, as all of these scenarios playing out are exactly as I expected. And so it goes...

Neither Moses nor Abraham are better than me.  They were sinners who were used by God.  They still had to answer for their sins, but were still used by God.  I'm not trying to justify my failures at all.  I'm just not going to say another human is any better or worse than me.  Why? The Bible says that all humans are equal and that the saints of the Bible, while we can learn a lot from them, are no better than anybody today.

Inherently no human is better than another, sure, and yes, God does use failures. I have a close friend that, years ago, got involved with hard drugs and alcohol and was really in a bad place. He had an experience and found God, and works today to further his message. He's extremely passionate about God. And he goes and does, regardless of the comforts, to further God's message.

My biggest beef with you and why I don't buy a lot of what you say is because of how you justify it. You are OK with God as long as you don't have to give up any comforts of your home. You don't want to risk driving in bad situations, going to Kenya before they build comfortable apartments, etc. The truth is, you don't have a job now, you will likely not be able to use your CAD degree in Kenya, so just go now. If you really had the same compassion and experience as my close friend and many others, you would already be in Kenya spreading the gospel. There is literally nothing holding you back but this silly idea that "now isn't the time" and I have never heard anyone say that before that truly was touched by God. I will maintain it is just another vacation for you like Utah. By your logic, God has dragged you around for years and years now with conflicting messages.

Oh man, I would drive 5 miles to get home if I didn't have any decent place to sleep. Hopefully she has a room for you or something.

Sleeping in pants is the worst. 5 miles isn't that far. I'd do it just for the freedom of sleeping in my undies!

I can't sleep when it's hot, so I normally keep the air on and even a fan sometimes.

Lol. Just ask your parents where they want it? Just a thought... I wouldn't want to leave me place in a mess for a week because I had to go to dinner one night and church the next.

Bushie and his rigid family customs. You would think he comes from money or something with all of these traditions of having to drop everything to see these people.

It can be tiring to visit with family, but I still cannot imagine what they do for hours on end together.

Yeah, I mean, taking naps and playing online all day while your dad, who's in his 60s, works 60 hours weeks at whatever job he has to be able to support you and your mother is really selfish. I know Bushie someone doesn't see it that way, as he feels entitled to just about everything, but it's really sad. At the same time, since his parents are his enablers, I suppose they are digging their own grave (and his in the process).

Whatever. At this rate, Bushie will not be alive much longer to really worry about these Kenyan fantasies, which I suppose he is also okay with since he thinks he will be welcomed into heaven.

Maybe Bushie's family chastised him for walking because exercise is evil? Or maybe he never did walk and only now admitted it because Inks now can track him on that app? It's sad, either way.

His 60 year old dad shouldn't have to clean up the yard when he's sick when he has a capable son who has no job and spends his days watching baseball and playing on his android tablet.

Probably. I am not sure whether his family is really that way or if he just makes no effect to actually help with anything. Of course, I can't really blame him that much since they seem to allow this to happen. I am beginning to wonder if something else is not seriously wrong that he is not revealing. It makes no sense to me that he is this selfish. He literally views his parents as slaves to him. Like he never grew up.

I can't imagine not being able to walk at all. I hope his mother's health is enough to get them both to wake up and get healthy, but as he and I have explained before, I doubt it. They will return to the old country cooking they know and love, and walking 10 minutes a day will not really stop what's coming.

He honestly believes he's a chosen one of God's and is using that to rationalize all other shortcomings. This is wonderful.

Duke, would you please be quiet.  You seem to think I'm not good enough or I'm too sinful to be used by God.  You're right, but God sees me through the lens of His Son's blood.  Through that lens, He sees me as crisp and clean.

Of course. My apologies. You speak for god, you know exactly what he says and what he thinks, so far be it from me to ever question any of this.

I have no problem with him wanting to go to Africa. I have a problem with him now shielding himself with God to avoid any responsibilities and peddling this idea that he is a chosen one of god's. He is essentially saying his behavior is OK because God thinks he is still perfect. I don't remember anywhere in the Bible saying you can literally do whatever you want and still be perfect to god. By that logic, we are all going to heaven because no matter what any of us do, it's okay.
