Yet all these guys in the 2024 clown car other than the usual suspects Christie, Hurd and Hutchinson won't have the guts to go after Trump and call upon him to drop out.

It's actually quite sad and pathetic this happens to a former president, though still great news that the justice system works and nobody is above the law.

Ridiculous, if they actually watched her interview (I did), she said it was a sad day for America that a former president was charged with all these crimes. And unlike Trump, she conceded her election the next day and moved on. Many of the things she warned about in 2016 became true or even worse than anyone could have imagined. If anything, history totally vindicated her on this despite the fact she ran a medicore campaign.

Additionally, I was kind of impressed she's still that sharp minded and generally in good shape. So much for "stamina".

One underrated aspect of this indictment is that, as I understand it, if Trump is convicted of the most serious charges here, he faces mandatory minimum jail time that he must start serving immediately and -cannot- be released pending appeal.

Definitely, that's also how CNN explained it. I just wonder what theoretically would happen if he's convicted after being inaugurated as president.

Fulton County Prosecutors propose March 2024 trial date in Trump Georgia case

Quote
Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis has proposed a trial commencement date of March 4, 2024, in former President Donald Trump's Georgia election interference case, a court filing showed on Wednesday.

https://www.reuters.com/legal/fulton-county-prosecutors-propose-march-2024-trial-date-trump-georgia-case-2023-08-16/

I wonder whether Trump is going to spend more time in court or on the trail next spring and whether crowd sizes of his rallies or protesters in front of the courts will be bigger. This is so insane, since in any regular election cycle or any regular candidate would have been done after one charge, let alone 91 and counting.

Trump would legally be required to be in court during the Trial so he wouldn’t be able to do rallies while the trial is going on .

Maybe on weekends when court is not in session but other than that , he won’t be able to do rallies while the trial is going on .

That's what I meant, he'll be pending between one court hearing after another and the campaign trail. Or just come out of the court building, move a few miles to hold a rally and then massively insult the judge, prosecuters and witnesses by calling them childish names. Potentially rile up the crowd that all above people and their families need extra police protections. That's what I expect at this point. The guy has no shame and is completely over his head, especially when he feels cornered.

I think the biggest issue is if Trump does hold rallies the odds of him not saying something that would normally get him held in contempt of court are near zero. You can tell Trump over and over and over again that he absolutely needs to not bad mouth the prosecutors and judge, but that doesn't mean he's capable of not doing it.

He just lacks discipline and is a pathological liar. There's a reason his lawyers and aide never want him to answer questions under oath as he would almost certainly get himself under perjury very quickly.

Why would an innocent man need a pardon in the first place? Tis a mystery....

This is like asking why Trump wasn't able to stop the great election rigging in the history of the world under his watch, while he was the sitting president. His die-hard cultists apparently struggle to answer these common-sense questions.

Rudy Giuliani made desperate appeal to Trump to pay his legal bills in Mar-a-Lago meeting

Quote
With his attorney in tow, Rudy Giuliani traveled to Mar-a-Lago in recent months on a mission to make a personal and desperate appeal to former President Donald Trump to pay his legal bills. By going in person, a source familiar with the matter told CNN, Giuliani and his lawyer Robert Costello believed they could explain face-to-face why Trump needed to assist his former attorney with his ballooning legal bills.

Giuliani and Costello traveled to Florida in late April where they had two meetings with Trump to discuss Giuliani’s seven-figure legal fees, making several pitches about how paying Giuliani’s bills was ultimately in Trump’s best interest.

But the former president, who is notoriously strict about dipping into his own coffers, didn’t seem very interested. After Costello made his pitch, Trump verbally agreed to help with some of Giuliani’s legal bills without committing to any specific amount or timeline.

Trump also agreed to stop by two fundraisers for Giuliani, a separate source said.

Just of clarifiction: If someone was not able to pay that sum, he or she would actually be thrown in jail?

As predicted - Trump files notice that he intends to sever his case from Chesebro's (and anyone else who requests a speedy trial):

"President Trump further respectfully puts the court on notice ..."

The bolded part made me laugh.

The Floyd and Meadows mug shots look like as if they were a screenshot from a gangster movie.

Harrison Floyd, the former leader of Black Voices for Trump has apparently been denied bail due to him having another charge pending for assaulting a federal agent and thus will remain incarcerated.

Trump only hires the best people.

I wonder whether Trump will come out of the court and brag about his ratings then. "I had millions of viewers while Sleepy Joe had low ratings in his latest campaign event."

If that date held and it's with a 10+ codefendants it could last through the election I imagine. Televised.

They should stick to June and get it done before the election.

Well Biden can't pardon him for the Georgia case. He's going to have to win this one on his own.

I don't think Biden would pardon him on anything at the federal level. However, the next Republican president almost certainly will. So hopefully it takes a very long time before that happens.

Attacking the prosecutor doesn't refute the charges. Where is Trump's actual defense? Oh, that's right, he doesn't have one.

His sole intent is to delegitimize the entire trial or an eventual conviction. That perfectly feeds into the narrative that Trump is a victim of an excessive Deep State that can't beat him at the ballot box.
