Gee, if these numbers are accurate, this doesn't go all too well for Russia. We need to pay our deepest respects to the brave people of Ukraine who fight back barberry with this resistance. As I said, Putin should not only be ashamed of himself for the pain he's inflicting on a peaceful neighbor country, he's also sending young Russian soldiers to death en masse for his Greater Empire fantasies. Truly an appalling person. He can rot in hell.




And some good news: Apparently nobody was killed in this highrise, that was hit by missals.

Russian leadership is increasingly insane. German media also reporters that Medvedev talked about reinstating the death penalty in Russia now that they're sanctioned anyway. I have a feeling we're at the beginning of a second Cold War and Ukraine is de facto already a proxy war.

I don't know, is it just me or does it seem that all dams are breaking in recent hours? All the sanctions, a protest wave across the globe and the boycotts. I really wonder whether Putin expected this as well as the immense and brave resistance of Ukraine?

I'm glad the German government finally came along. Should have done so much earlier. We were delusional about Russia all too long, all political parties from left to right.

Probably true sadly.

Just a quick reminder that Ukraine gave up its nukes in 1994 in exchange for security assurances from Russia. An agreement that Putin has violated since 2014. But he's whining about promises from 1990 NATO wouldn't expand, although that was never in any written treaty whatsoever.

BREAKING: EU closes entire airspace for Russian planes, German news just report. I'm really impressed how fast and decisive the EU is acting, when decision making usually takes a very long time and compromises. Putin has unified EU and Transatlantic Alliance to a level nobody thought possible.

Some more details are coming out about the third sanction package the EU is working on. Apparently, it's not only an exclusion of Swift, EU also seeks to freeze all foreign exchange reserves of the Russian Central Bank and oligarchs, making their money worthless. This is definitely big stuff.

(I'm sorry this is in German, just couldn't find a report in English that quick).

Developmemts would have seemed completely incredible mere four days ago. I guess that one SPD politician comparing current events to a European 9/11 the day before yesterday was entirely correct.

Scholz just said Bundeswehr will receive an universal extra 100 billion Euros for a number of investments. Defense budget will be increased to reach the 2% of GDP in the coming years. I wonder whether the government will continue to insist on the debt brake after 2023, as initially proposed. Budget plannings were already tight before and cuts in green energy investments certainly won't happen as we need them not only to match climate goals, but also reduce dependency from Russian energy. Anyway, I can't say how glad I am we're in coalition with the FDP and not Die Linke.

Really great strategic move by Putin now that he has gotten NATO to pile up defense capabilities by massive amounts.
