Of course this was going to happen, and there is very likely more out there. The manner, quality and number of accusations clearly show that Cuomo is an abusive character who behaves that way and uses his position to get away with it. He needs to resign now, and I hope Chuck Schumer will demand his departure from the governor's office in his announced statement.

Same here, I think he will be pushed out. If you lose that much support in the legislature among your own party leadership, there is hardly a way to govern. I wish the White House would weigh in at this point, especially if Cuomo tries to drag this out.

The issue with comparing this to Northam is Northam did a stupid thing while on college. Cuomo has consistently behaved in the same way in regards to sexual harassment and has about half a dozen highly credible accusations against him. Not to mention the covid death count scandal and intimidating legislators to cover it up. It’s complete different to what Northam faced.

I think Alben Barkley's comment was referring to in which manner Northam sat out his scandal. It's obvious Cuomo's missconduct is on multiple fronts and caused real pain on a number of people in recent months and years. The conduct itsself is not comparable to Northam, who did a something very distasteful 35 years ago when he was a student. And unlike Cuomo, Northam has sincerely apologized and even met with black leaders after the photo became public.

Because Cuomo's wrongdoings are far more severe, he's far less likely to drag this out the way Northam did. Furthermore, amidst the Northam controversy, allegations of rape surfaced against Justin Fairfax, who would have been his successor. That isn't the case with Cuomo either, and after the sexual harassment allegations, he'd be replaced by a woman.

Looks like Cuomo is worried about these resignation demands. However, with these phone calls, he'll probably accomplish the exact opposite. This just needs to end by him resigning.

It's absolutely disgraceful one way or the other. I think we all can expect much better from political leaders who should actually lead by setting examples. Maybe sounds corny given many don't, but we should never stop expecting it from them. And given how Cuomo has handled the scandals since they come out is quite telling. He's not up to the job and needs to face the consequences of his behavior after the investigations are done. But he needs to resign or be impeached.

Well, but dragging this on is bad for the state. There are several issues to deal with, and it takes a fulltime governor untainted by scandals, focussing on getting things done. Aside from the fact Cuomo isn't up to it, he's consumed with fighting for survival just to hang on and outdo his father. He and his cronies needs to go as soon as possible so that the state's executive can get back to business with new personell.

I'm just glad Schumer finally came along.

I really do think it's odd. If Biden, Harris, and Pelosi all made a joint statement calling for his resignation, he would basically have no choice but to resign. I really don't know why national Democrats aren't calling for his resignation, what is the political calculus here?

Yeah, it's disappointing. My guess is they want to let this play out within New York state because national Democrats don't want more public spotlight on Cuomo just after the Rescue package was passed. Schumer and Gillibrand had to say something as New Yorkers.

More revelations amidest the sexual harassment stuff: Cuomo's Covid czar pressured county executives to praise the governor in public and threatened them. One executive filled a complaint at Tish James' office. This a-hole just needs to go.




Meanwhile, Speaker Hastie seems to slow down the impeachment process against Cuomo and make it less transparent. Truly a disgrace if this doesn't move forward.
