Hillary's Wall Street donors are threatening to abandon her if she picks Elizabeth Warren:

http://www.politico.com/story/2016/06/elizabeth-warren-wall-street-vice-president-224489

BTW, they really like the idea of a Vice-President Tim Kaine.

All the better reason to choose Warren, then.

No, because her Wall Street donors are great stuff for an attack dog like Big Don.

Frankly, I don't see why anyone would prefer Castro the empty suit. Warren seems like the obvious 'good choice', while Franken and Becerra are the most underrated.

I agree. Hope she picks him. I can't wait for Big Don to troll him. I'm just thinking what nickname he will get from TRUMP. "Empty suit Julian" would be funny. Or "Lightweight Castro", though lightweight is already used for the great senator from South Carolina who frequently got zero in the polls before the dropped out.

There's no way Cotton will go with Trump. He's going to want to play both sides in his potential 2020 run.

I agree. Cotton has also not much experience. In the senate since 2015, got a House member in 2013.

Trump does an interview with Hugh Hewitt in which Hewitt suggests either Christie or Cotton for veep.  Trump responds that he has them high on his list for “something”:

Looks like Corker is out. He was actually my favorite since Kasich openly and strongly declined. But Chris wouldn't be a bad choice.

This Politico Article is a few weeks old, but very interesting concerning the next VP. Says basicly that next VP will have a tough job, no matter who wins.

It's hard work breaking all those ties in the Senate and presiding over the electoral vote counting.

The article is more about the role in public and the administration. Couting the electoral votes is still Joe's job.

It's either Castro or Kaine.

Of course Kaine's replacement would have to run to hold the seat in a special election in 2017 and there is no guarantee the Dems would hold the seat so there is a bit of risk with him too.  If Clinton wanted to go pure no risk, then it would have to be Vilsack. Former gov of IA and cabinet sec, he has experience and swing state bonus. And he grew up in Pennsylvania so bonus there plus he was an orphan, so interesting back story.

He's dead boring.

The AP confirms that at least Gingrich, Christie, Pence, and Sessions are still in the vetting process.  Also, Pence is set to meet with Trump this weekend:

Either Gingrich or Sessions. If he chooses anyone else it would be a surprise.

Christie wouldn't be a surpirse. Corker and Fallin also not.

I really doubt it's Pence. He's in the midst of his reelection campaign as gov.

Is anything known on Flynn's positions on other topics? Economy, trade, health care, social issues? If he's a Democrat, he may appeal to moderates and more liberal voters who dislike Hilldog.

Nothing is really known about Trump's positions on any issues so I doubt it matters. Tongue

Uh, yeah, of course. There are tons of interviews by TRUMP.

Apparently Michael Flynn's registration as a Democrat might cause some ballot issues in Florida and West Virginia.

He'd likely change his registration to Republican.

Well according to Florida statute 99.021 2(b2), someone cannot qualify for the nomination of a party if that person has been registered to any other party a year beforehand.

You seriously think Florida's republican SOS is going to enforce that? In your dreams dude. And if you think "Dems will make him do it", think again. Taking Trump off the ballot will just give Johnson 20 to 30 percent of the vote in Florida because of people turning out for Rubio/the house who simply can't bring themselves to vote for a Dem for president. 20 to 30 percent of the vote in the third most populous state is a YUGE leg up to Johnson in getting to 5% nationally and securing the libertarian party federal funding in 2020. DEMS DON'T WANT THAT.

And as far as West Virginia goes, if Trump's not on the ballot, Johnson would actually win the state.

You really think West Virginia is going to vote for Clinton (or any Presidential D) under any circumstances when Obama, who she's running for a third term of, lost LITERALLY EVERY COUNTY, when Hillary is very anti-coal, when she lost LITERALLY EVERY COUNTY to a SOCIALIST, and when they gave a convicted prisoner over 40% of the vote in a low turnout primary against the incumbent president after he had already clinched renomination, in a time when the republican primaries were uncompetitive, in a contest that not a single media organization mentioned until after it happened?

Whoaaaaaa there you need to take a breather. I was literally just pointing at the fact that current state statutes could cause some potential hesitation on picking Flynn. Don't take my ball and run with it off a cliff.

Well, laws can be changed. The governor is a TRUMP backer and GOP controlls the legislative.

In another analysis WP usefully describes why the Trump VP pick seems to change hourly:

https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/the-fix/wp/2016/07/11/why-donald-trumps-near-certain-vice-presidential-pick-changes-every-day/

Bottom line: Until the final minute, nobody except Trump will have a clue as to who the VP pick is.  Nevertheless, let me repeat my prediction:

Trump/Fallin 2016 Smiley

Well, it's really difficult. There is no candidate without flaws. The best choice would be Kasich, but TRUMP should not beg on knees for Johnny to join the ticket.

Trump says he'll decide in the next 3 or 4 days, which suggests there will be no Pence announcement tomorrow. He's down to 5 people including Flynn, but is leaning towards someone political and not military.

https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/the-fix/wp/2016/07/11/donald-trump-will-make-his-mind-up-on-vp-pick-in-next-three-to-four-days/?postshare=351468249661034&tid=ss_tw

So not until after the convention? That's certainly a change. (Based off Trump's problem with meeting his own deadlines.)

The convention is more than a week away Wink

LOL, Hillary is so weak. Now she considers a general since Big Don took a look at Generals Flynn and Mattis. She has no ideas, must copy from TRUMP.

Clinton has the pick of almost anyone. Trump has to pick the least toxic of about 5 people, and the only military pick he seems to have is a pro-choice Dem that was relieved of his post.

He was relieved because he spoke out against the failed Obama/Clinton middle-east policy. And the TRUMP-campaign also mentioned General Mattis as potential pick.

TRUMP in an interview now said he does not want an attack dog. So likely Pence; Fallin and Flynn as wildcards.

Is adding a few electoral votes really the most important criteria on choosing
a politician who could become President one day?

No, but I think Tim Kaine fits this category far better.
