Amendments to Northeastern National Guard Act


Section II of the Northeastern National Guard Act is hereby repealed and replaced with:

"The family of any solider who dies while on active duty in the Northeastern National Guard shall receive a compensation from the Government of the Northeast of $10,000 dollars each year over 20 years, to total to $200,000 dollars."

The following sentence of Section III of the Northeastern National Guard Act is hereby repealed:

"The Adjutant General must be the rank or Major General or higher, and already a member of the Northeastern National Guard."

Section V of the Northeastern National Guard Act is hereby repealed and replaced with:

"Any person who enlists in the Northeastern National Guard, shall serve one tour of duty, consisting of four years, with the option to re-enlist for more tours of duty."

How much will this cost tax payers?

Section II right now calls for funding of $20,000 per year for 5 years. I seek to spread this out over 20 years at $10,000 a year. Yes, this will cost taxpayers, but my feelings on this are strong. Men and women in the National Guard are what we call "Citizen-Soldiers." They are brought up for combat only under the most urgent conditions, leaving behind there families and there jobs at hardly any notice. The lose of a loved one can not be put into money. However, if we try, $100,000 dollars just isn't effort, neither is $200,000, but that number seems appropriate. Therefore, I urge the taxpayers to accept this measure, to give a few extra cents each year for the men and women who fight for region and country.
