At the conventions you always see signs for democrats abroad or Republicans abroad. i assume these are Americans living in foriegn countries but voting absentee right?
In the primaries, the idea of "Americans Abroad" is to serve American citizens who have no permanent residence in the U.S. Some do have permanent residences, but choose to cast their votes under Americans Abroad because their home state has a caucus system, or really for whatever reason.
In the looser sense, "Americans Abroad" political organizations include those with residences in the U.S. but who cast their ballots from foreign mailing addresses (legally or otherwise
)
Do they have any other activities through out the years between the pres elections. Like do they have meetings or something? I am just curious to know what they do or are they just voting blocs every four years.
Pretty sure the Democrats Abroad have a pretty robust organization (

http://www.republicansabroad.org/) tends to focus more on GOTV among active military personnel.
