I don't see how it is "aimless."  He's been going around making speeches on all the major topics, creating his foundation for his general election campaign.  Obama is doing the same ... as do many other candidates in their position during the Summer months.

He did sort of take forever to find a cohesive narrative against Obama, at least to me.
