And we've gone peak LePage. Good riddance to a truly awful governor. Hopefully in a presidential year Democrats will have a very good chance of picking up the seat, and even if they don't at least it won't be held by LePage anymore. Perhaps we'll get to see Michaud 2: The Return?

And just for the record, Republican Senate President Michael Thibodeau (who would succeed LePage until the 2016 special) said in a statement he was "very saddened by this situation and shocked by what is being alleged," so it definitely looks like his own party is ready to toss him overboard too.

Greatest governor in nation being smeared by leftist radicals. Sad.
If by "smeared by leftist radicals" you mean "pretty openly admitting to extorting a school for troubled children to punish a political opponent, in addition to all his other 'colorful' comments" then yes, he was smeared by leftist radicals.
